lol announcers w/ a gambling reference saying how that play mattered to a few people but didn't say exactly who they were

UTSA had the ball around their own 30 with under 20 secs left on the clock, QB completes about a 8 yd pass and the receiver tries to lateral but a defender picked up the ball and took it to the house. The lateral was a forward pass however, so UTSA backers avoided disaster.

I rewatched the play twice...the receiver caught the ball and tried to lateral(even though it was forward), how is that not a Fumble?
even Tim Brando said it was a fumble on TV and that "it matters to some people if the TD counts"

An illegal forward pass is a dead ball.

He mentioned it multiple times, lol. Then he was like "it matters in some circles".

Can the ball be recovered by an illegal forward pass beyond the line of scrimmage? If the QB crosses the LOS and passes a ball that hits the ground, the defense can't pick the ball up as a live ball. I know this is slightly different, but the receiver showed clear intent to pass the ball to another player, it was not a fumble.

You can't advance the ball forward period. Same thing happened in Baylor smu game. Dead ball and penalty

No. As soon as the forward pass is attempted it's dead ball.

Or amazing

From my point of view, the joy you get from winning in that manner in no way compares to how devastating it is to lose in that way. We've all been on both sides of the coin and I never forget the ones I'm on the wrong side of. It's absolutely awful.

UTSA should have never covered this game but in the end, the score says that they did. What a lackluster 2H performance for AZ and just when UTSA needs something really good to happen to tie or to pull off the upset, the QB pulls a hat trick with a 5 yard shovel pass right into the arms of the defense. To be honest, I don't know what he was on his mind. That was a pure tragedy.
