Ok, lets get this party started.

Here is my last season record all documented here at the Rx
:
Final Season numbers: 67-43-1 +24.35 units

13 winning weeks
3 losing weeks

First play:
SJ/Det over 106 2 units
This has the makings of a shootout with veterans Grieb and Kelly going at it with a veteran receiving squad. SJ also has the best rushing game in the league so they can power it in near the goal line (remember in Arena the clock doesnt stop on incomplete passes, so a good rushing game is more of a plus than a liablity if you are betting the over because it leads to more efficient redzone scoring).

Good luck again this year, PPeter.

I lean to the Under in this game guessing the offenses will need a little time to get the rust off. Also, a healthy SJ defense with a great secondary might remember how Kelly embarrassed them last year and step it up.

traditionally, the Under was the way to go, period. However, for some reason I can't pinpoint, scoring was way UP last year and I believe the majority of games went over. If I were to speculate why scoring was up, expansion may have something to do with it because the expansion clubs have some horendous defense.

I am pissed about losing the SJ over, that game had no business going under as Detroit was kept scoreless nearly the entire second half due to turnovers

Anyway, for 2/6

Colo +8 3 units
Colo is much improved and the Pepsi arena will be a sellout. New coach brings new attitude.

LV/Colo over 108 2 units
LV offense should be much improved with Dozel. Defense still a big questionmark for both teams.

Journey, once you get started watching Arena I have no doubt you will get hooked, big time! It has all the elements of football and basketball combined, and the passing offenses are a beautiful thing indeed to watch....

ppeter,

Glad to see you back. I look forward to another winning year of watching you beat AFL.

Was just wondering if you broke your record down any further, at least sides and totals, vs. the comprehensive number.

Thanks again and good luck,
Bart

Okay, we bag a nice side win with Colo. So far 1-2 -1.3 units (assuming 107 juice)

For 2/7

Indy +3 (canbet) 4 units
Indy is much improved with new qb Daft and new coach DeBerg. The Destroyers have lots of questions on offense.

Indy over 87.5 1 unit.

We take a bad beat with Indy. From arenafan:

A franchise-record crowd of 14,007 saw the Firebirds take a 41-28 lead into the fourth quarter.

But the Destroyers returned two interceptions for touchdowns and stopped Leroy Thompson on fourth down with less than a minute left to beat the Firebirds in their first game under new coach Steve DeBerg.

What is up with Grand Rapids, the line is now up to 9 at Intertops. They had it off the board yesterday. Someone must be injured because no way should Chicago be favored by this much otherwise. I looked at both rosters and I think Grand Rapids should be good this year. (I looked at all the team rosters this week so that I know who is playing where)

I need information, information before playing this one.

I think Arena is one of the easiest sports to handicap because unlike the NFL you can gain an edge by reading up on the game and knowing who plays for what team.

GR losing Dolezel was huge. Philyaw will be a good fit in Chicago. He will also make them much better. I think the Rush are definately in the better position this season, but they got to lace em up and play the game. I have a lean to Chicago here.

adding

Orl +1 2 units
The loss of qb Kaleo for TB cannot be understated here. Orl will be dedicating this game to their fallen coach.

absolutely ghastly beginning.

for the week
3-7 -13.2 units.

at least I didn't have to pay $100 for Northcoast's 0-3 -8 unit start to the season (they hit around 65 percent last season).
