In 1962 the Miracle Mets came into my life and loving the underdog I went along for the ride..Listening as a 12 year old to the world series on the radio coming home from school on the bus made me a lifetime fan..

In 1969 when the Knicks took the Lakers with Wilt and West I became a lifelong fan..Frazier and Reed and Bradley..along with the rest led by Holtzman..what could be better..

The Namath led Jets always held me spellbound..Namath was bigger than life, and his leadership qualities and charisma was something to behold..That was then..

Now I root for the team I need..Becoming the house changed my loyalties..Sad..but true..Today I am a man whose needs, are stronger than my loyalties..

Bingo. I think this comment sums up what lots of us said in this thread.

I've worked for a few sports teams. It greatly changed my opinion on sports. The teams don't want fans. The teams only want CUSTOMERS. If they can't sell you a T-shirt or a 10-game ticket package, you're meaningless to them.

Don't get me wrong. There is nothing wrong with this. Every company should try to make money, right? But as jdodger said, you can't get emotional about corporations.

Cowboys --then and now.

Remember when cable tv came out in the early 80's ....you had 15 or so channels ....the Chicago and NY cable channels .....I had to watch the Cubs all the time ...I have always liked them.

NBA----really none .....sick of them --all sports are overpaid ...but they take the cake.
