By Sunday evening, Dorian could become “nearly stationary” for about 48 hours, the National Hurricane Center said.
Then, as the storm continues its slow march, current projections show Dorian could have less of an effect on Florida but a bigger impact in the Carolinas.
The governors of North Carolina and South Carolina have both declared a state of emergency.

If I lived there right on the coast, like the Hilton Head Island region, I'd at least have a bag packed up and a full tank of gas and plans, cages, etc. For any pets and be ready to head a goodb100 + miles inland, for a day or two.

I have never evacuated for a storm, but CT is not prime hurricane real estate.

The great thing about a hurricane is you get plenty of warning it is potentially headed right for your assistance... your choice how to respond to the threat.

You can ignore it, mandatory evacuations have no teeth. It all depends on how vulnerable you are !

There's a big difference between being at sea level or 50 meters above base level, the solidity of your structure, power generation abilities, if you pass all thos tests and of course have plenty of water, food, meds, etc., Then stay.

If you're in a cheap ass mobile home type of thing, good idea to have a "Go ", ready !

I don't want it to impact anybody, ideally it follows Tate's model and goes out to sea, but his stock is low now !

I live on the outer banks, nc. I’ll leave cause it’s easy for me but most who live here won’t. Got family in Richmond so it’s quick and easy, 3 hour drive. Been through plenty and dodged a few over the years. Staying with a family isn’t worth it, if I were single maybe a different story. My house is very high up, I don’t worry about flooding but Still worth it for me to leave.

it'll be a lousy category 2 by the time it gets there. no need to leave. what could possibly happen. better chance of meeting misfortune on the highway than dealing with a tropical storm.

it will be and likely no need to leave but for my wifes peice of mind she wants to leave and head to her parents, which is easy for us to do. i have an 8 month old and a 4 year old so for us its just as easy to leave. a long weekend at the in laws and all i need is an internet connection to work anyway.

Good thought process, skins. Keep the family safe and happy. That's your job as dad.

Didnt know he could stop it

Thus his motivation to shove Wednesday's golfing into Tuesday.....while carefully monitoring events of course

Will be interesting if he again - for the fifth time in 30 months - declares he has never before heard of a Category 5

Hey, at least he proactively considered nuking the hurricane - at least trying - lest we not forget Barry tee'd off literally 5 mins after ISIS beheaded the American journalist live on TV
