Having followed the fortunes of this team for many years I have seen plenty of false dawns and consistent underachievement from them. The first 3 quarters were awful on Sunday, but the return of Fiedler just seemed to really fire this team up.
I'm not just talking about the offense as the D seemed to be much more enthusiastic too. The play calling was much more mixed (partly due to the time left) and gave Ricky Williams a much better chance to gain decent yardage.
This team was about 3rd or 4th favourite for the Superbowl before the Fiedler injury. 33/1 is now available and in what looks an open AFC their power running game and strong defense could take them far. Their road record has been good this year also. Are they the only decent value left for the Superbowl? If they can win their next 2 games then there's every chance they'll also lead their division.

I dont think so.

Inept coaching. A shaky QB scenario. Barely squeaked out awin at home vs. Tim Hasselback.

Terrible winter team.

No way.

NO

they won't win the division - meaning all road games in the playoffs - and they win road playoff games as often as the sun rises in the west and sets in the east.

if they make the playoffs their 1st playoff game will be among 1 of these sites:

kc
new england
indy (only game in warm weather)
tenn
cleve
pitt
cincy

i see 7 games - only 1 indoors - and 5 of thr outdoor 6 will be reallllllllly cold - while the other one - tenn - won't be bone cold - but cold.

miami - if they go to the playoffs - they are "1 and done"

Miami is an 8-8 team. Neither QB is an NFL standout. Their coach is clueless. No speed at the wide receiver position. Their defense is good but not as good as it's made out to be. They can't win in December and can't play in cold weather.

They carried on last night from where they left off v Washington. Fiedler has suddenly become Chad Pennington - some beautifully thrown passes and great composure. A defeat for NE on Sunday will make things very interesting.

I thought when Miami lost their home opener against Houston of all teams that this could be their year. They always win their home opener and are dominant at home early season. This season they've been poor at home but will they continue their unusual season by still winning on the road and playing well in December??

Dan UK, i agree with you. You have identified the only "real" value left. Go fins! And good luck to you.

I think Fiedler looks as good now as he did in the beginning of last year this team will jell at the right time and could possibly be the team to beat down the road!!!

I hope you're right.
I know sport is about results and not "if onlys", but Miami could be sitting at 11-1 now as they should have won the games against Houston, NE and Indy. Having said that they were lucky against Baltimore and Washington.
After their performance for the majority of the game last December in NE I don't think they should be too worried about going up there next week.

I know a LOT of you think the Dolphins will fold AGAIN, but let me tell you something.....being the HUGE fan that I am, I follow this team much more then a lot of you do, and mark my words, this IS a different team. I know nothing has been proven, and I know that usual December swoon is coming up, but the Dolphins did something against Dallas that following them for such a long time, cant even remember the last time they actually ran up the score on someone. They have that killer instinct now, and I know alot of you are probably saying its only one game, but believe me, after the comeback against Washington, and the blowout against Dallas, they have found something that has been missing for years. They now have the confidence to play and with a nice 10 days off, and the division still well within sight, I expect the same effort in New England. Also, dont forget, that "old guy" named Seau, was brought in just for this situation, another leader, and someone with that same killer instinct. I expect big things in the next few weeks from my fish. Only time will tell, but for all of you thinking Miami is a sure loser in December........be careful!

I was on them big time this week because of how well they matched up with Dallas. After NE loses this week the fins will only be a game out of first place, which can only mean one thing, they will fold up like a cheap chair when the play the Pats again and end up as a Wild Card team. However being an SC alum they were my sleeper pick this year out of the AFC because of the additions of fellow alums Seau and Sammie Knight and I think they might do some damage in the playoffs if Fiedler continues to keep his head out of his rear.

You are all demented idiots, I am especially disappointed with Dan UK as he is a brit( I presume) he should know better. Even ProPlaye hasn't posted in a while.
Truth is, and you know it, Miami are going nowhere. Please stop deluding yourselfs with, the QB might come good, we can win a game just running Ricky, we have got good WR's, our Defense cant be beat and come clean, just like an AA or GA meeting, face reality.

Man from Troy, I just read your post more closely and while I hate having a go at a new poster, if you made Miami your sleeper you have a lot to learn.
All I can suggest is that you expand your mind over the obvious, then things will become more clearer

The team can't win! They have a coach that won't win the big game.

but according to god's son---Big Lou and other touts out here, the Dolphins will roll with Brian Griese.

I hope the Bengals draw the Bait in the 1st round! If that happens GIVE ME +7 points or more and run to the bank and cash in.

The Dolphins suck in the last 2 weeks of the season for 10 years now.

Hey Winbet,

Ironically I was overseas handling business for my firm. I have been following the Phins and after that comeback against Washington, they are ready to roll. NE will be tuff but NE will not be able to run the ball. Brady will be forced to beat MIA's secondary and right now I will take the moneyline hoping the books don't respect MIA yet and give me +200. Jay needed that QB competition from Brian and that has helped his confidence and the team believes in Jay "right now". NE is laying a beatdown on Indy but hopefully Peyton can pull his magic and win this game. If Colts comeback and win this one, look out for NE to lose confidence and a VERY CONFIDENT MIA team to upset the Pats in NE. Anyway MIA can get NE home 1st round and go to KC, they will be in the AFC championship game. If Balt or Cincy can upset a couple of teams and make it somehow, MIA will be in the Bowl. Only team I think can beat MIA is Tenn @ home and Indy will give them a run. Winbet we will just have to wait and see, I am cheering for 2 more wins from the Phins as I have them over 9.5 games for the season. I am back for a bit then I have another assignment. MIA is red hot and if they beat NE, look for them to run the table into the playoffs.

Winbet,

By sleeper, I only expect them to make the playoffs and win one game, not to go all the way, which it still looks like they're in position to do so. I guess you are counting on the annual Miami December slumber on happening.

Could have done with James getting in for the TD on Sunday, but nevermind, a win on Sunday and we'll be ok. With no dominant team at the moment in the NFC (yes the Rams and Eagles are going well), what about the Saints to keep winning and get the wild card spot at the expense of Dallas, or even sneak the division from Carolina? They're available at over 100/1.

And if the Road Warrior says it, it must be true..

I have never seen a guy jump up and down so much after every play. He even does it on a slight loss. From what I read, San Diego couldn't wait to get rid of him and his salary. He might be a motivator...but the last time I looked Miami has a good vetern team...not rookies.

I am glad you haven't posted in your guaranteed thread lately as I think you leave yourself open. Hopefully from here in you can give your thoughts without the pressure.

Good Luck for the rest of the season
