I'm considering asking my doc for some some anti-anxiety medication. The full time kind, not benzos. I have what I hope is an anxiety disorder. I say hope, because if it ain't anxiety I'm probably going to drop dead of a heart attack or stroke or something lol. Anyways, that's a different story.

Question is, do any of you take the likes of say Effexor, Prozac, Wellbutrin, or whatever? There's like a 1,000 different one's I think. If so, is it worth it? Does it help? And most importantly are ya able to throw down a few cold one's without going all Whitney Houston acting? Cause I like my suds and that ain't gonna stop. Anxiety be damned!

Thanks for any insight :)

Men seem to deal with these types of drugs way way better than women.

If you have a girlfriend or wife on this shit, she may cheat on you. It lowers their defenses and feel less guilty. Don't date a woman on these kinds of meds, unless your intention is to score some of the anti crazy meds. You may score on her as well but she's more likely F'n the flirtatious guy at work as well.

I take Effexor in a very limited dose (50mg) and it seemed to help me. I also take xanax as needed but try not to take it often. The reason why I say "seemed" is because if I miss a dose - even though it is a very small amount - I'm fucked the whole next day. Seriously fucked. Placebo effect - maybe. crazy - maybe. Fucked - YES.

But when I take it I feel more "balanced". And fuck you rubber room, I'm not gonna kill my sister.

Oh, and Hosnacher, you're racist as shit.

Peace!

effexor is good, but hard to get off if you want to stop taking it. also risky if you're not good at taking meds regularly. has bad withdrawal effects

an ssri might be the cheapest and easiest med to use.

as far as non pharm treatment, you should probably get some psychotherapy/cbt

be very careful. best route you can probably try is something like prozac which is very light.....or something like cymbalta which will basically wash all your worries away lol

but those take weeks to work, get some ativan and take double the dose of what the dr gives you.......that will take any anxiety away. so the next time you feel anxious you know you can knock it away with a double dose. you are so confident in that the anxiety goes away on its own. then before you know it you havent taken your ativan in 2 months and you have a nasty stockpile
