Cal Ripken, Darrell green and Carmelo Anthony.

My dads first cousin, Joe Branzell, who was a scout for the senators and rangers for 50 years always invited us to his charity dinners. There would be all the old senator players, I happened to get tom browns autograph, he played for the packers, redskins and senators. When joe branzell died he had so many collectibles in his apartment at leisure world. Some went to the hall of fame and some were giving to family members. My dad who was real close with him at the time was supposed to get a life size poster of Ted Williams that was autographed. Either the real estate agent or someone involved with his estate stole it, I more than likely would have it now.

Back in 1988 I was 13 years old.
I thought Rush Limbaugh was the smartest guy in the world.
He convenced me that he was right 98.6% of the time.
I even liked him so much I convenced my parents to let me go on his tour.
I got to met him and even eat with him one time. I got his personal autograph with the framed picture.

This was a 13 year old(me) idolizing this political talk show host.

Then as I got older and was able to form my own opinions that were outside of the bubble that I was born in I all of sudden started hating the guy.
Now I cant listen to him for more then 5 mins without getting completely disgusted. Not that I disagree with everything he says. But when someone cant have a non biased thought about something this causes me not to even be able to respect someone even during the times I agree with them.

I have no idea why I brought this up.
HAHA
Anyway.
Sold my autograph for $5 on EBAY about 10 years ago.
I would not have sold that for $1000 when I was 13 or 14.

I have a Michael Jordan autograph on his basketball card somewhere....I went to his basketball camp. Is it worth anything? I think it was on a skybox card..

BTW: I somewhat played Jordan one on 1 when i was 13 and also played Terry Dehere (Seton Hall and NBA). Terry Dehere cheated and travelled like crazy

@) ... if your somewhat serious about the jordan card of course it is worth something. Send it to PSA for grading and they will authenticate the signature and you could probably get a few hundred for it. :103631605

if not authenticated you would be lucky to get $50

I can remember collecting a few autographs over the years but don't have any of them now. The one that stands out was when I was about 10 or 11 years old and my stepdad took my brother and I to see the Red Sox at Fenway. My stepdad was good friends with Billy Gardner, who was the 3rd base coach for the Sox at the time and before the game we went to the side of the dugout and Gardner came out and handed both me and my brother a baseball signed by the entire team.

It is def. legit. I think I know where it is. Assuming legit, what kind of price tag are we talking about?

I already mentioned that in my post bud... lol

but the bottom line is without you getting the signature authenticated by PSA/JSA/etc (and a viable source.. not some non-auto "expert") then it wont sell easily on open market.. people wont take a risk over 20-50$ unless its authentic 100% (which you need proof)...hence the signature authentication via psa I suggested. They can also encapsulate the card for you... this will all run anywhere from 25-50$ to get done with shipping and all.. so you will spend money to make money... but then ur card is "priceless" to u and about a few hundred to the market now that its proven to be authentic...how high it goes depends on how good you market it.. even if its an ebay auction or Buy it now type thing....higher prices take longer to sell.. but it only takes one fish to bite to make it happen.

Got it. Thanks.

Will look into that.

These are the services offered by the place I would recommend first. http://www.psacard.com/services/

They are one of the pinnacle's of the sports card grading market and taken as guaranteed fact by buyers. Basically if PSA deems something authentic and it later is proven not to be, they would buy it from you for market price to stand by their word of the grading they gave.

GL and I suggest you goto ebay and do some research on the exact card you have also.. being that is skybox, I assume the card is semi worthless (only because mass amounts were produced)..so even a 5 or 6$ card is virtually pennies on the dollar in open market.. its the signature that has all the meaning at this point.. but sure if the card was in good shape it would slightly help.. but the signature being not smuged/bright and popping out/etc are what really matter at this point. :)

I wanted to say this too...The two services I would consider are both of these.. but unless the auto is eye-popping and your sure it will be a 9 or 10 grading then I wouldnt go the grading route as having a 6 or 7 sig is authentic but not as appealing.....but I also will say that the second option is the only way to encapsulate the product in a tamper proof case...so it then is absolutely undeniable... so everything has its advantages. :)

Autograph Authentication
Sports, entertainment and historical autographs can be submitted to PSA/DNA. From Babe Ruth to Marilyn Monroe to Abraham Lincoln, PSA/DNA can handle a variety of autographs and employs experts with a diverse knowledge base to meet your autograph authentication needs. After reviewing the signature or signatures, the experts render an opinion about the authenticity of the autographs submitted based on their knowledge and analysis. A certificate (COA) or letter of authenticity (LOA) is generated if the item passes inspection. In addition, the item is tagged with synthetic DNA that is unique to our company, a unique certification number is generated and the information is stored in our database.

Autograph Grading
After an autograph passes PSA/DNA authentication, it is then eligible for grading. The experts are simply grading the condition of the autograph. They are not grading the penmanship or legibility of the signature; they are grading the quality of the autograph in context, based on the writing habits of the signer. The autographs are graded on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being best. This service is available for items signed on any medium; however, signed baseballs have a different grading standard.

Choose wisely puff_>>

When cal Ripken broke the record my cousin Joe branzell was giving a ticket($5000) closest seat you could get to the field. He was getting old and had trouble walking, so he gave it to my dad. With the ticket you got 2 tickets to a dinner with cal the next night I believe. You also received a picture of the ticket and a picture of the stadium framed. Also the chair you sat in with an autographed baseball. I wonder what i could get for the chair, picture and ball? Guess who my dad decided to take to the dinner, his only son, no, my mother who loved cal. Still mad about that. Oh and the 1993 all star game at Camden yards he took her as well. Not to mention he went to every redskins Super Bowl in the 1980's. The only game he took me to was bulls vs bullets and I was seated right near robin fickle( annoying as fuck). Sorry to vent but I would choose my son over wife for special events like that. Already took my daughter to a redskins game and lakers vs wizards(2009).

I have no idea what this would be worth.. Its a nice collection and all,but is more of a sentimental thing I would guess. However, it definitely would have been a big upgrade to have Cal's sig on the photo or something (not impossible to get now also)... Heck even framing this all and a cut signature of his would raise the value a lot higher.

Something like this since its more of a "one of a kind" type thing would be interesting to take into pawn stars store or to sell at a real auction house for sports memorabilia and let the buyers decide what they would be willing to pay(could be a ton, could be a dud).. but definitely if you were going to go either of those routes, the signature and frame would be your best investments ever.
