Anyone ever buy a computer from Dell outlet?

I just bought a refurb Vostro...intel dual core 2.7ghz, 4 mb ram, 2 250 gb hard drives...$700, windows XP pro. Worried I'll find what was wrong with in in about two months.

I bought one about three years ago from them. The first one crashed in about 45 day's. They sent me another one that lasted for about two years before i updated and gave to my Grandaughter.

Never had a problem. Dell Outlet and Dell Home / Small Business many times offer the same products that are equal in quality across the board. If you have a "lemon" you would find that out immediately, not in 45 days. The Vostro is a solid machine that should last for a while. Congrats on avoiding Vista you will save yourself hours of frustration.

Thanx DrP...unfortunately my new laptop came loaded with Vista. I've deleted as much bloatware as possible and it's slower than my main desktop that is 3 yrs. old and filled with all sorts of bugs and viruses, even though my laptop has twice the power.

These dual core machines are pretty damn fast-it should run like a raped ape-especially since you ducked Vista.

p.s. WCB, did you figure out if you're going to be around Jan 10th?

WEST COAST, reformat and reinstall XP with the install disks. I know it sounds daunting, but look it up on Google with something like, "Install fresh Vista", or "Reinstall Vista fresh". Look for some tutorials and do it.
