Yes, poker has a lot more strategy involved and that makes it more interesting to watch. Plus bluffs, bad beats happening, etc. Blackjack just has too many routine hands to make it interesting viewing for a whole hour. And then they interview Anthony Curtis when he got knocked out and all he could say was something like 'well, when I started losing hands I knew I'd probably be out soon'. That's about all you can say when you lose at blackjack. There's no meaningful analysis or commentary to give.
Unfortunately with a blackjack tournament, usually the minimum bet is only 100. But with the way those 5 people played, it was much less agressive then a typical tournament. Most tournaments I've been involved with have at least some people making big bets at the beginning. It would be pretty rare to still see 4 out of 5 people left on a final hand as what happened on the show.
Maybe some ideas to improve the show would be to lower the amount of hands to 20 or 25 instead of 30. That could force people to be a little agressive earlier on. Also, they could speed things up and have two or three rounds worth of people in one show. Maybe have two rounds of 5 different people with the top two from each table squaring off in a "Final Four" at the end.
Overall, there's not much they can do to improve this show. I might still watch it each week anyway, but I doubt you'll be seeing it on again after the season of shows is over. Boring, boring, boring.
