Taking about affairs it came out today that Reverend Wright had an affair with a Texas white woman which ended up in the women being divorced from her husband and her losing her job. Looks like the good reverend doesn't hate whitey that much afterall!

Thanks for reminding me about another lie, according to www.factcheck.org

"She was never a member of the Alaskan Independence Party, a group that wants Alaskans to vote on whether they wish to secede from the United States. She's been registered as a Republican since May 1982."

Where did I say that she was a member? Jesus Christ, read the fucking post. Her husband was a member for 7 years and she spoke at their conventions or whateverthefuck fringe parties call their gatherings. "Keep up the good work", she tells them.

Why don't you go back to that factcheck.org page that you copied and pasted and scroll down a little further?

Oh, hell, I'll save you the trouble.

"The director of Alaska’s Division of Elections, Gail Fenumiai, confirms that Palin registered to vote in the state for the first time in May 1982 as a Republican and hasn’t changed her party affiliation since. She also told FactCheck.org that Palin’s husband, Todd, was registered with AIP from October 1995 to July 2000, and again from September 2000 until July 2002. (He has since been registered as undeclared.) However, the AIP says Todd Palin "never participated in any party activities aside from attending a convention in Wasilla at one time."

There is still some dispute as to whether Sarah Palin also attended the AIP’s 1994 convention, held in Wasilla.
Clark and another AIP official told ABC News’ Jake Tapper that both Palins were there. Palin was elected mayor of Wasilla two years later. The McCain campaign says Sarah Palin went to the 2000 AIP convention, also held in Wasilla, “as a courtesy since she was mayor.” As governor, Palin sent a video message to the 2008 convention, which is available on YouTube, and the AIP says she attended in 2006 when she was campaigning."

So you're ok with a potential VP sympathizing with a secessionist party and her husband having been a registered member? I also find it odd that the husband of a potential Republican VP is not a registered Republican.

So her husband was a registered member of a secessionist party and attended that party's convention when it was held in his home town of 6000 people. His wife may have accompanied him. In 2002, well before she was Governor I might add, he discontinued his registration to that party.

You know what I say - Big F'n deal.

If you lived in a conservative state (self-sufficiency is at the root of conservatism) with a limited population that was drenched in Black Gold I'm sure you'd be willing to explore a secessionist option as well. Sounds to me that's exactly what he did.

And, er, what exactly does this have to do with her?

Would you say that if Michelle Obama was a member of a secessionist party and/or not a registered Democrat? If you say "yes" everyone will know you're lying.

Republicans would be flipping their goddamn lids if it was the other way around.

It's another example of "It's Okay As Long As You're a Republican".

I assume you were as free thinking when pastor Wright said goddamn America for the years of slavery, oppression and segregation his people endured. You did stand up for his right to say it....didn't you?
And er, exactly what did Wright's statement have to do with Obama?

I'm sorry DEC, I didn't realize your post was about Palin's husband. Why on earth would I?. I guess I was giving you too much credit, Palin's husband was a member when again? Actually, never mind.

Michelle caught shit about her remarks about not being proud about her country while on the campaign trail, that's a tad bit different.

Goddam America. He may have the right to say it. Treason comes to my mind. You assume he was referencing an America of 200 years ago. Did he say Goddam Africa because their chiefs sold their own people? Did he say Goddam Brazil, or Goddam Spain, or Goddam France? Anyone who engaged in trade 200 years ago engaged in slave trade. Not just America. The common thread was the African chiefs selling their own people. Where is Africa's responsibility?

I think he was referencing Today's America. An America that has given black people equal rights and more than equal rights in the form of affirmative action.

What I say is where's the gratitude? I'll guarantee that taxes taken out of my paycheck help to feed and clothe and house half his congregation. I don't ever recall anyone saying thank you to me.

He is a church leader. Irresponsible would be the kind thing I would say about the person who spoke with such a venomous tongue to his flock.

Obama raised his children in that Church. The Church is a place where minds are shaped, where morals and attitudes are taught.

I can tell you this. My children would be immediately taken from any church where Goddam America was heard from the pulpit. And I would be extremely suspicious of anyone who did not take like action. I would certainly be suspicious of such a person if he were running for any elected office, much more so if that office where the President of these United States.

Now what is the moral equivalalency of hating America and attending one meeting in a state that is exploring secession? There is none.

Sorry DEC. IF Michelle Obama lived in ALASKA with their small population and blessing of Black Gold and was an INACTIVE member of a secessionist party, I really don't think I would have anything to say about it. Particularly if she ended her affiliation 7 years ago.

Where exactly is the crime here?

I would explore that same option if I lived in Alaska. I'm sure you would too. In fact I'd bet there weren't a handful of people who post on this board who wouldn't.

What's the big deal?

Nice copout JR.

Is it likely that a racist could go out with a black girl for seven years?

Maybe if she was looking for a prop so she could seem all progressive and stuff....

And are you REALLY white? Or like me, kind of a tannish-brown?

I would drop them like a hot rock. See, I actually believe in "Country First". Unlike the partisan hacks on both sides.

Funny, as Palin's link to secession is about the only thing I find less than objectionable about her.
