They are fucken kidding themselves if they think they are not paying - all Trump said is that evictions cannot go forward in April - who even knows what that means - a new case cant be filed? what if the eviction started in in February - regardless, the money is not forgiven - it goes into arrears - so they're behind a month - what if you have a 20 unit buidling with a mortgage on it? the tenants think they don't have to pay - and now the owner thinks he doesn't have to pay - and so now the banks that lent the money all go under? yeah, sure ok
I own (2) 6 family apartment houses and have great tenants, all have been with me 10+ years always pay on time. I sent a memo after getting calls from them telling them not to worry your rent will be on hold for next month (April) and we'll see about May. Hoping it doesn't last longer than that they can piece off Aprils rent. BUT I now it will be much longer than that. I also told them pay what you can towards your April rent whatever you can afford. No late fees or fines will be implicated.
