Yeah, I can't argue that. Many think anxiety is just mental. I am not certain it is just mind over matter, but it could be.

LOL J~Man, Panic or Anxiety attacks consist of more than just palpatations. They are pretty scary to be honest with you, until you learn to deal with them. Also, I had these before I started wagering seriously.......

First time I ever had one I thought it was all over with! LOL.......... It just "happened". I remember, I took some cold medicine, went to lay down in bed, and then don't remember if I was still awake, or started to doze off, but suddenly felt as if I couldn't breathe. Now obvioulsy when you cannot breathe you begin top panic anyhow. Well, I don't know if the panicking because of that brought on the rest of it, but then came dizziness, heart palpatating/racing, sweating, shaking/tremors.........MAN!! I thought I was history!! Wife took me to hospital, they find nothing. The next night, Im soaking in bath tub, I start thinking about it, and then another begins to come. I had them for about 4 days straight, went to the hospital 1st 3 times. As time goes on, the doctors tell you it's your nerves or stress, but you don't totally believe it which worsens the situation, because you know your own body, and I've always been active, healthy, and played serious sports, and then just all of a sudden this hapens.:icon_conf
Finally, I go to see a lady I kind of know, a therapist, and that's when she gives me some papers & pamplets and explains to me about Panic or anxiety attacks. What she told me then helped me deal with them. She told me "You know by now when you have then that they aren't going to hurt you, or kill you, so when you feel one coming on, just welcome it, say, bring it on". I finally got that through my head. As time went by they went away. I had a coworker, man in his 50's who started having them. He retired because of them. I tried to explain to him they would eventually go away, but of course, my words weren't much help for someone going through them which I understand. I talk to him now, and they did eventually go away......

General:

Anxiety and panic disorders are very real and quite common and cannot be improved simply with mind over matter. As for the Linden Method, although there may be substance to the approach, the program is more a business then a cure. There are many approaches to treatment for anxiety disorders too numerous to mention. But if anyone thinks they are suffering from any of the many symptoms, seeing your physician and discussing the matter is one step worth considering.

That's EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO ME, except I took some anti-anxiety meds. Maybe my body didn't match that certain med. I thought I was history, too. Scariest moment I ever had. Ambulance and parents came. Ambulance told me it would cost over 300 dollars to take me to the hospital so I let my parents take me there. Nothing was wrong with me.

Anyways....

Lot's of it is mental, but a lot of it is also physiological. Like what you eat or drink can have a lot to do with how your insides of your body feels. For instance, sugar make you more jumpy i think. Limit sugar. For me, I don't take in any sugar. plus to much carbos is not to good. I eat fruits, too. I just drink water, except when I'm at a social place, i might drink alcohol. I know that's strict diet, but hey, it helped me somewhat. Even my parents aren't as strict as I am.

Ofcourse meds can help, but that's the last option if everything else doesn't work. I used to take meds, but only when I needed it. That whole thing about taking meds everyday can get you hooked on them, and some of them cause impotence. So if it does cause that, slowly get off of it.

just my experience.

Hey glennlovecolleen3, I also loved colleen, from the very first Survivor show! :>Grin> Do you still these attacks, and for how long have they been going on? Mine went away and I haven't had one in years and years. I do know that for a fact, as you mentioned, that much of it is in your mind.
