MONDAY 1-1 +1.85 UNITS
Here are tonights selections:
7 Units Georgetown -8.5 -106
The Johnnies, who are at the bottom of the Big East, should win a game or two in league games but that might be a bit of a push. The Red Storm (R: 1-4 SU, 3-1 ATS) lost to Villanova, 85-74 Sunday, shooting 40%, but point guard Elijah Ingram shot just 2 of 10 from the field. Soph guard Darryl Hill led the team with 20 points. The Hoyas (H: 8-1 SU, 1-3 ATS) have been no bargain themselves logging an early season 1-3 mark in league play. On Saturday, the UConn Huskies took care of business 94-70. The Hoyas dropped their third straight this season. Ashanti Cook led Georgetown with 18 points, while Brandan Bowman and Gerald Riley each had 17. Bowman grabbed 11 rebounds in the first double-double against the Huskies this season. The Storm won both games a year ago and how the worm has turned. Expect the shooting-challenged Johnnies to be grasping at straws.
5 Units Ohio State -2 -106
Indiana (R: 3-3 SU, ATS) has an impressive two win run going after topping undermanned Northwestern 73-62 over the weekend. Bracey Wright scored 16 points and Marshall Strickland added 15. In the 59-57 win over Michigan, head coach Mike Davis went with his eighth different starting lineup of the season. The Indiana defense did a great job against the previously red-hot Wolverines, who were held to 38.2 percent shooting from the field. Ohio State (H: 9-2 SU, 3-7 ATS) is struggling in a lot of areas, defense among them. In their 73-62 win over Minnesota Saturday, J.J. Sullinger and Tony Stockman each added 13 points for the Buckeyes, with Velimer Radinovic chipping in with 10 points. Ohio State is fourth in the conference, shooting 45.6 percent from the field so the Indiana defense will be tested here. Ohio State is at home and they've been shooting well, while Indiana has just Bracey.
5 Units Ohio +8 -107
A lot of opposite extremes. That is, Ohio is 5-10 overall, but 6-3 against the spread. Akron is 7-6 overall and 4-2 at home, but 2-8 against the spread. The Ohio Bobcats (5-10 SU) are struggling, shooting 41% from the field averaging 65 ppg. 6’-5” senior Jaivon Harris (13 ppg, 42% FGs) and senior guard Thomas Stephens (11 ppg, 38% FGs) lead the way. Ohio broke a losing streak with wins over Buffalo and Northern Illinois the last two games, and they are 4-0 ATS the last four. In fact, the offense has caught fire the last two games, beating Buffalo 90-76 and NI 80-59 as 6'-6" Terren Harbut had 15 points, 5 boards. But both those games were at home, and Ohio is 1-6 away from home. They'll have to score a bunch against run-and-gun Akron (7-6 SU, 2-8 ATS). Akron likes to run behind dynamite senior Derrick Tarver (23 ppg), averaging 71.9 points per game and shooting 45% as a team. But Akron is riding an 0-3 SU/ATS run playing no defense in losses to Miami of Ohio, Bowling Green and Toledo. Their last home game they were an 8 point favorite over BG, but lost 77-72.
3 Units Seton Hall -2.5 -103
There will be no hiding for the Orange (13-1 SU, 5-6 ATS; R: 3-0 SU, 2-1 ATS) who took a giant step forward ripping their last three opponents by an average 13 ppg. On Saturday, Hakim Warrick collected 19 points and 10 rebounds as the 19th-ranked Orangemen extended their winning streak to 13 games with an 81-70 victory over Notre Dame. The Orangemen have taken a liking to the road, winning by 14 points at Missouri on Monday and cruising to another double-digit triumph over ND as Billy Edelin scored 17 points. The Hall has a mini losing streak of two games falling to a pair of teams they were supposed to handle. Providence and Boston College both had handy double-digit wins over the Pirates last week as the Hall shot 41% from the field in both games. In the 72-63 loss to BC, SHU's Andre Barrett scored 19 points and John Allen added 15 points and eight rebounds. I'm looking for Seton Hall for pull it out in the final minutes tonight!!!
