FRIDAY 1-1 -0.07 UNITS

Here are today's early selections, I will have more plays to follow shortly so be sure to check back offten!!!

North Carolina -8.5 (LOST 72-81) -7.14 UNITS

In their last game, North Carolina (13-4, 9-6 ATS) just got by NC State 68-66 SU. They say that Carolina has NBA talent. Well, they are certainly playing like it -- All OFFENSE and NO 'D'!!! Carolina is averaging 91 points a game in conference play. The problem is that they are giving up 88. Now Carolina travels to Clemson (8-10 SU, 7-7 ATS). Clemmie’s season has been ruined by their nightmarish Road play. All of their wins have come at Home. Clemson does average 73 points a game at Home, which is a lot better than the 59 points a game they are scoring in ACC play. On paper, Carolina has so much more talent that it is scary. Players like Rashad McCants (19 ppg, 4 rpg) have become household names. Carolina is far superior than Clemson’s attempt to make Lemonade out of a box of lemons. However, The Heels better start playing some D.

Dayton -3 (WON 74-67) +5.00 UNITS

Xavier (R: 2-6 SU, ATS) has lost four of the last five following this week's loss to George Washington 81-60. Xavier's shooting failed for the second game in a row with the Musketeers shooting only 35 percent for the game, managing only 30 points each half. Lionel Chalmers led the Musketeers in scoring with 21 points, and Romain Sato brought down 13 rebounds. Xavier (10-8 SU, 4-12 ATS) has now lost four of its last five games. Ramod Marshall scored 24 points and Sean Finn added 18 to lead Dayton (H: 8-2 SU, 2-6 ATS) over La Salle 77-75. Keith Waleskowski had 11 points and 12 rebounds for Dayton (16-3, 6-0 Atlantic 10), which won its seventh straight game The X-men usually have plenty of outside firepower, its underneath that can be a problem. Dayton has an inside game that can cause them serious problems.

South Carolina -3 (LOST 68-79) -5.35 UNITS

Ole Miss put a better fight against Kentucky than we thought losing just, 71-61 SU. Now they stay in the elite ranks as they face red-hot South Carolina (18-2 SU, 9-5 ATS). The Gamecocks are riding a great Road win against Vanderbilt, 57-55 SU. But Mississippi (10-7 SU, 6-6 ATS) has little shot against South Carolina in this game. The Gamecocks have been outstanding on the Road this season (7-1 SU). They are out-rebounding Ole Miss by 7 boards a game (34 rpg –37 rpg). The consistent play of Carlos Powell (14 ppg, 7 rpg) has been the key for South Carolina. Powell and a team defense that is only allowing 58 points a game is the answer to a great season. Ole Miss does play very well at Home. 9 out their 10 wins have come at Home. However, Ole Miss will not be able to match Carolina’s effort.

Good Luck Today My Friend's,

St. Joseph's -8.5 (WON 83-71) +10.00 UNITS

Jameer Nelson scored all of his 19 points in the first half as St. Joseph's (R: 10-0 SU, 6-3 ATS)remained unbeaten with its 17th straight victory, a record-setting 114-63 rout of St. Bonaventure this week. St. Joseph's rested Nelson and Delonte West, who scored 21 points, for most of the second half with the outcome decided. Lucky Temple, the Hawks will be rested...look out Owls. Temple lost to Mass last week before topping St. Bonnie 76-57 on Wednesday when John Chaney won his 700th career game. David Hawkins led the Owls with 21 points. There's no good time to meet up with the Eagles who are "outta sight" in conference play. The Owls are (H: 5-3 SU, 4-4 ATS: 2-4 A-10) and this will be an early evening for Owls fans.

Hawaii +4 (SU WINNER 73-71) +5.00 UNITS

With Hawaii's loss at Rice on Wednesday, there is now a three-way tie for first place in the WAC. Hawaii is 6-2 in the WAC, tied with Fresno and Rice. Hawaii (14-4 SU, 10-6 ATS) is on a roll, going 6-1 SU the last 7 games and 6-0-1 ATS. They are tough to beat because of a terrific frontcourt of 6’-10” senior Haim Shimonovich (7 rpg) and 6’-9” sophomore Julian Sensley (10 ppg, 7 rpg), and a deep backcourt anchored by 6’-5” senior Mike Kuebler (19 ppg) and senior Phil Martin (12 ppg). In the loss to Rice, the team shot 62% and Sensley had 20 points, 11 rebounds. Hawaii is 5-2 SU/6-1 ATS on the road! Tulsa (6-10 SU, 4-8 ATS) holds teams to 38% shooting, but they've lost 6 of the last 8 games. Tulsa has 6’-2” senior Jason Parker (18 ppg) and 6’-6” junior forward Jarius Glenn (13 ppg, 7 rpg) leading the way, but they lack height which will hurt here against Hawaii's frontcourt. Tulsa is 6-2 SU/3-3 ATS at home, but Hawaii plays tough defense (40% shooting allowed) and will command the boards here.

Tennessee +3.5 (SU WINNER 65-63) +5.00 UNITS

LOOK OUT!!! This one will be one awesome game. Tennessee (10-6 SU, 8-6 ATS) is coming off another Road fiasco against Mississippi State, 80-62 SU. However, they now get their chance at revenge against Florida (13-4 SU, 9-4 ATS). Exactly 3 weeks ago, Florida beat up Tennessee so bad (95-57 SU), the original Volunteer, Davy Crocket, came close to getting up out of his grave to box out on the boards and play perimeter 'D', something the Vols didn't feel like doing. Tennessee should play much better in this one. At Home, Tennessee plays like Peyton Manning in Kansas City -- ON FIRE. They are averaging 83 points a game and only allowing 66 at home. It makes no difference who has the better players, the whole state of Tennessee is looking to put Albert the Alligator back on the Endangered Species list. Not that it matters, Florida has the better talent with players like Guard, Anthony Roberson (17 ppg, 4 apg). But rage and Home Court is all the difference in this classic Home and Home war. Gators go home without some teeth!!!

Kansas -4.5 (LOST 61-68) -5.10 UNITS

5-0 in league play for the Kansas (R: 5-2 SU, 4-3 ATS) Jayhawks after Keith Langford scored 19 points and Wayne Simien added 16 as the Jayhawks won 78-70 over Ka State this week. The Jayhawks had 24 assists and only seven turnovers and shot 51 percent (29-of-57) from the field. Will Blalock scored 20 of his 22 points in the second half Wednesday night as Iowa State came from behind to defeat Texas A&M 91-82. Jared Homan and Jake Sullivan scored 20 points each and Curtis Stinson added 14 as the Cyclones (12-4, 3-2 Big 12) ran their home-court winning steak to 11 games. Expect Iowa State to give the Jayhawks a tough time Saturday but the bottom line is that Kansas has too much depth.

Final plays will be up in one hour!!!

Delaware -3.5 (LOST 63-61) -7.39 UNITS

Poor James Madison (4-13) allows a whopping 73 ppg at home and they are 1-8 SU/2-7 ATS in games against the Colonial Athletic Association. The Delaware Blue Hens (11-7) have enough offense to get a road win here, behind guard Mike Ames (17 ppg, 49% FGs) and Mike Slattery. Delaware's strong freshman, 6’-8” Harding Nana (12 ppg, 8 rpg), won't play here (shoulder). Delaware actually has a better road record (4-5) than James Madison's home record (3-5). James Madison has lost 9 of 10 games and carries a 2-7 ATS run into this game. JM has good guard play from 6’-2” freshman Ray Barbosa (11 ppg, 33% 3-pt land), 6’-0” junior guard Daniel Freeman and swingman 6’-4” Dwayne Broyles (13.7 ppg), but they lack height. Delaware should control the boards here and get another road win. These teams met on Jan. 12, and Delaware rolled at home, 80-66.

Wichita State -3.5 (WON 70-60) +5.10 UNITS

The visitors have the edges this game. A short Drake team doesn't play any defense (71 ppg allowed, 49% shooting allowed) and the Wichita State Shockers are strong on the road and do a lot of things well. Wichita State is 5-3 SU/5-2 ATS on the road where they allow just 64 ppg while scoring 71 ppg. Wichita shoots 46% from the field while holding opponents to 39% shooting, led by junior guard Randy Burns, junior 6’-5” Jamar Howard (14 ppg, 6 rpg) and a huge frontcourt of 6’-8” junior Rob Kampman (9 ppg, 5 rpg) and 6’-10”, 250-lb sophomore C Paul Miller (6 rpg). The Drake Bulldogs (3-5 SU, 3-3 ATS at home) don't have the height to hang with Wichita. They are a guard-oriented team led by 6’-1” junior guard Lonnie Randolph (10 ppg, 36% FGs), 6’-3” sophomore Josh Robinson (11.5 ppg) and 6’-2” sophomore Chaun Brooks. Drake will bomb away from three-point land, but Wichita plays better defense and will control the boards.

UTEP -10 (LOST 71-68) -5.15 UNITS

WAC battle and while La Tech is a nice, up and coming team, they will be hard-pressed to keep up offensively with UTEP. The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs average just 64 ppg on the road with some good young talent, anchored by highly heralded 6’-8” freshman forward Paul Millsap (14 ppg, 12.5 rpg). But La Tech shoots 64% from the free throw line, while UTEP can score not only from the line (76%) but many other ways. UTEP likes to push the ball up the court (81 ppg) shooting 48% as a team, led by 6'-5" junior Omar Thomas (15 ppg), 6’-6” senior forward Roy Smallwood and 6’-5” sophomore Jason Williams (12 ppg). UTEP won 10 of its first 11 home games where they are out-gunning teams by an 88-66 average! A year ago, UTEP ripped La Tech 75-57 on this court and they should win by a similar count again.

Good luck tonight my friend's,

Thanks for Delaware and Wich St. I was looking for two "easy" ML winners.

Delaware just couldn't pull away from JMU. Delaware was up 61-59 with 17 seconds, JMU made 2 FTs. Then Delaware got a tip-in @ the buzzer.

If JMU doesn't make both FTs, they'd have to foul Delaware, and then maybe Delaware gets the cover.
