SUNDAY 3-1 +21.40 UNITS
Here are tonights selections:
5 Units TCU +1 -115
Two Conference USA money-burners meet: Both teams are 5-11 against the number. TCU (7-12 SU, 4-4 C-USA) is just 2-3 SU, 3-2 ATS on the road. They have guards Corey Santee and Marcus Shropshire (each with 13 ppg) leading the break, and a young frontcourt of 6'-6" sophomore Chudi Chinweze 6'-10" freshman Femi Ibikunle. TCU averages just 61 ppg on the road, though they've had a week to pat themselves on the back after an 85-79 upset at Marquette as a +12 dog. Marcus Shropshire had 20 points, making six 3-pointers, as TCU led the entire game in beating Marquette. The 85 points tied the most points the Golden Eagles have given up this year, and Marquette lost for only the second time in 12 games at home. "The ball just bounced our way and went in the hole," said TCU's Nucleus Smith, who had a season-high 16 points. South Florida (6-12 SU) is really struggling, carrying a 7-game losing streak into this game. They are on a 1-7 ATS run and a short-handed team. They lost at Tulane as Terrence Leather scored 24 points on 11-of-16 shooting for South Florida, which is 0-7 SU in C-USA play.
5 Units Pittsburgh +2 -104
Defense will take center court in this Big East battle. Pittsburgh allows 39% shooting and holds teams to 56 ppg, while Seton Hall allows 38% shooting and 63 ppg. The Pitt Panthers (22-1) and UConn have a single defeat in Big East play. Pitt likes the muscle game with 6'-7" Chevon Troutman, 6'-10" freshman Chris Taft (7.2 rpg) and 6'-10" junior Mark McCarroll up front, while Julius Page (12.7 ppg) and sophomore Carl Krauser (14.6 ppg) handle the offense. Krauser scored 19 points, Julius Page had 17 and the fourth-ranked Panthers overcame a 13-point first-half deficit to win 66-58 Saturday at Notre Dame. Pittsburgh made just one of its first eight shots and trailed 15-2 early, but didn't panic. Pitt is 5-1 SU/4-1 ATS on the road, while Seton Hall (15-5 SU, 12-5 ATS) is 10-1 SU/7-2 ATS at home. The surprising Pirates will throw 6'-8" sophomore Kelly Whitney and 6'-6" junior Andre Sweet to try and muscle the glass with mighty Pitt, while sparkplug senior guard Andre Barrett (17.5 ppg, 6.4 apg) directs the offense. Seton Hall is 11-3 SU/10-4 ATS as a favorite, but 1-2 SU/2-1 ATS as a dog. A year ago, the home team went 2-0 SU/ATS, with Seton Hall winning 73-61 on this court. I'm taken Pit +2 in a really close game tonight!!!
5 Units Northern Illinois -2 -109
Don't look for any defense this game -- these are the worst two teams in the MAC West. Northern Illinois (7-13 SU) is slumping riding a 5-game losing streak and they are 1-8 SU/4-3 ATS on the road getting outscored by a 73-65 average. The defense has disappeared during this losing streak, as they allowed 80 points at Ohio, 71 at Ball State, 85 at home to Buffalo, 77 to Toledo, and 69 at home to Kent State. The Northern Illinois Huskies are led by 6'-6" senior Marcus Smallwood (14 ppg, 9 rpg), but are short on height and defense. As is their opponent, Central Michigan. The Central Michigan Chippewas (3-18 SU, 4-16 ATS) carry an 11-game losing streak into this game and they're 0-11 SU/1-10 ATS in the MAC! Central Michigan allows teams 48% shooting and surrenders 79 ppg. Central is 2-7 SU at home where they have yet to cover a game (0-8 ATS at home). Both teams are playing lousy, so look for no defense.
Good luck tonight my friend!!!
