20 Units Hawaii -7.5 -110

Tulsa has really struggled this season, going 3-11 in the WAC. The problem for Tulsa (7-17 SU, 6-14 ATS) is that they are a guard-oriented team with little height, led by 6’-2” senior Jason Parker (18 ppg) and 6’-6” junior forward Jarius Glenn (12 ppg, 6 rpg). Tulsa is 1-11 SU/3-7 ATS on the road where they give up 76 ppg. They will be at a big disadvantage here, as Hawaii has a deep roster and a dominant front line that will command the boards. Hawaii (17-8) is allowing just 41% shooting, behind its frontcourt of 6’-10” senior Haim Shimonovich (6.7 rpg) and 6’-9” sophomore Julian Sensley (11 ppg, 7.7 rpg). Hawaii also has 6’-5” senior Mike Kuebler (18 ppg) and senior Phil Martin (11 ppg). Hawaii is 11-3 SU/4-8 ATS where it outscore foes by a 70-62 average. When these teams met on January 31, Hawaii nipped Tulsa, 73-71. This one won't be as close.

Allstar, just confirmed , Sr F Phil Martin is not going to play in this game as he sustained a ankle injury in practice. Jr F Jeff Blackett will be taking his spot. In my opinion, though Hawaii will lose Phil's Defensive play and rebounding ability, they will make it up with Jeff's ability to shoot from 3pt land, something Phil never does. Blackett is a feisty competitor, who's ability to shoot from the perimeter should open up more lanes for Hawaii as well as take some of the pressure off of Sensely and Kuebler, as well as open up Haims down low to more one on one matchups as his opponent must now guard Jeff when he is outside of the paint or else he will take the 3 point shots. I think that he provides a wider open game than with Martin. But, without Martin, rebounding and Defensive play will be sacrificed. Still, if Blackett gets hot, then we should be in good shape.
