I'm currently back in Rake the NBA mode, but watching the scorefest to the side here

The East needs to have the major horn blast when they score, imho

Shootouts created for people who don't have patience to watch a full length Real Hockey Game

Vic--You like shootouts when you have one of the sides? I love the rush, more often than not I hate the result.

AO scored that last one? or Alex Kovalev?

I think Kovalev

I have horrible luck with them but I still think their exciting as hell.

You are relatively new to this game Steve....trust me, they are better than ties.

he would have been unbelievable in todays game. although with the speed of today's he might not be known as the road runner.

Don't know if you caught any of the 1980's All Star Game on NHL Network this weekend, but looking back some of those guys could barely stand on two blades, let alone skate.

Two primary reasons, IMO, 1) lack of Europeans in the league then, 2) power skating classes were just in their infancy.

Certainly. That's why I advocate as much OT as needed to settle it like Real Men

Tim Thomas versus Luongo in the third.

I think you've got a good shot with the west Steve.

For our own good, I don't know if I would advocate Sudden Death in the regular season. That 4OT game in the playoffs last season killed my week before it even started by staying up until 2:45am on a Sunday night/Monday morning.

OMG! I wish you read a post I did last year about this when I first got NHL Network and watched a 1960's game at Maple Leaf Gardens. What a difference between these players today and then.

I know it's sacrilege to say but, Bobby Orr would have been just a good player today....not the man that changed the face of the game.

lol...you and everyone else. Sudden death OT is impossible to pull off in the regular season. Only baseball can get away with games till 2:30 am

Speaking of baseball, Mrs. AL and I attended this season's MLB All Star game at Yankee Stadium and with a tie game, extra innings, etc., we left at the top of the 13th and I still didn't get to bed until 2:45am (when I got home, the game still hadn't ended). That one killed my week also.

3) Players are better in every sport today. Selective breeding...everyone is bigger, faster....and richer.

Can you imagine the Celtics of their dominant years versus any NBA team today?

Like you said earlier, maybe the Road Runner would have been able to hold his own trying to keep up with these kids. Not too many others would've been able to.

Now the goaltending back then....too obvious a change that I won't even get into it.

No, I didn't see it. I haven't watched the MLB Network at all since its debut. Focused on hockey (and football on the weekends) right now. Once Spring Training starts, I will probably tune in every night to see what is going on.

I heard he pitched a perfect game, that true?:ohno: All kidding aside, I've never seen the entire game. I don't even think they've shown it on the YES Network (the Yanks' cable channel). When I first got the YES Network, I was watching every "old" game, every Yankeeography, sh!t I was even watching infomercials. I'll need to TiVo the Don Larsen game.

They have the entire game from one out in the top of the second till the end....commercials and everything. Mel Allen does the first half of the game then Vin Scully.

Tremendous show...you have to see it.

Just think of it...an entire game as it was viewed in October 1956. Day time World Series! How about that!

Daytime World Series, what's that? I can only wish. In a way, I'm glad the Yanks didn't make the playoffs this season for the fact that the previous 13 Octobers (and November in 2001) from 1995 through 2007, I was a POS at work due to a lack of sleep.
