the NFL's best were pretty mediocre all-around this year. winning the Superbowl as a wild card is an impressive feat but it's not like they beat anyone very special on the way. They came into the playoffs with a very good record and very good team and took care of business. It was a good run but hardly a pinnacle point in NFL history.
That's what I was getting at, thinking the comment:
"The most exciting and incredible NFL playoff run in history..."
Had to be some kind of joke.
This wasn't even the greatest playoff run of the last 3 year!
Think about it and compare the Packers to the Giants in 2007 and the Steelers in 2005. All 3 went on the road for 3 straight wins to make it to the Super Bowl. But look at each run:
The Packers were never even a dog of 3 points in any playoff game: +2.5 in Philly, +1.5 in Atlanta, and actually favored in both the CC game in Chicago and the SB vs. Pittsburgh. They also won the CC game against a 3rd string QB.
The Giants were never LESS than a 3+ point dog: +3 in TB, +7 in Dallas, +7 in Green Bay and +12 vs. the undefeated Patriots in the SB. I'm not a Giants fan and there's simply been no better playoff run than this one.
The Steelers were a 3 point fav in Cin, a 9.5 point dog in Indy, a 3.5 point dog in Denver and a 4 point fav in the SB vs Seattle.
Both the Giants run and the Steelers run were significantly more impressive than what the Packers did this year. Enjoy the victory as you are a fan, but please don't think that this run was anything close to the "most exciting and incredible NFL playoff run in history".
