the NFL's best were pretty mediocre all-around this year. winning the Superbowl as a wild card is an impressive feat but it's not like they beat anyone very special on the way. They came into the playoffs with a very good record and very good team and took care of business. It was a good run but hardly a pinnacle point in NFL history.

That's what I was getting at, thinking the comment:

"The most exciting and incredible NFL playoff run in history..."

Had to be some kind of joke.

This wasn't even the greatest playoff run of the last 3 year!

Think about it and compare the Packers to the Giants in 2007 and the Steelers in 2005. All 3 went on the road for 3 straight wins to make it to the Super Bowl. But look at each run:

The Packers were never even a dog of 3 points in any playoff game: +2.5 in Philly, +1.5 in Atlanta, and actually favored in both the CC game in Chicago and the SB vs. Pittsburgh. They also won the CC game against a 3rd string QB.

The Giants were never LESS than a 3+ point dog: +3 in TB, +7 in Dallas, +7 in Green Bay and +12 vs. the undefeated Patriots in the SB. I'm not a Giants fan and there's simply been no better playoff run than this one.

The Steelers were a 3 point fav in Cin, a 9.5 point dog in Indy, a 3.5 point dog in Denver and a 4 point fav in the SB vs Seattle.

Both the Giants run and the Steelers run were significantly more impressive than what the Packers did this year. Enjoy the victory as you are a fan, but please don't think that this run was anything close to the "most exciting and incredible NFL playoff run in history".

Who really gives a shit if it was the greatest playoff run or not? Wasting time debating something so irrelevant is stupid. We won the fucking SUPER BOWL, that's what matters.

You did win it, but it was no where near "the most exciting and incredible NFL playoff run in history" as claimed by the thread starter and it's not even close to being debatable, so yes, trying to debate the facts would be stupid.

Perhaps, but to a Packers fan everyplay of every game watching the "Cardiac Pack" was both exiciting and incredible. Maybe the Giants and Steelers runs were better, maybe they weren't, but to someone like me cares very little about those teams I couldn't care less. As long as I had bet on the right side or they hit my pool numbers I was excited not because they were having some kind of incredible playoff run. So, to a Packers fan it was definately the most exciting and incredible NFL playoff run in history. It's all relative.

Well you're clearly biased, but you have to take off your cheesehead and look objectively at the situation:

In none of Green Bay's games this postseason were they dogs of 3 or more. None. That implies that, at a neutral site, the Pack would have been favored in every single game. Thus, per the linesmakers, they didn't face a single team who was better than they were in the playoffs. Not one. Just because they won road games vs. teams they were better than does not put them in the category of Pit or NYG in past playoff runs, who won road games vs. teams that both linesmakers and the public thought were much better than these 2 teams.

There's no way to even compare that to the Giants or Steelers, who were facing much stiffer competition. Now, the fact that the Pack barely won vs. Chi and Pit, despite facing a 3rd string QB w/ Chi and winning the turnover margin 3-0 including a pick 6, did make the games "more exciting" for you as a fan, but certainly does not mean they had the most incredible playoff run in history.

The only thing it seems we will agree about is your sentiment that "to a Packers fan it was definately the most exciting and incredible NFL playoff run in Packerhistory."

But it's not even close to being either (most exciting or most incredible) in NFL history, and that's what I understood the thread starter to be saying.

Congratulations to the Packers and the most incredible, impossible, unbelievable playoff run in the history of all sports.
