Question for MJ: Like the Packers plus the points against Arizona and is my understanding the first teams will play at least the entire first half. What I do not like is that 86% are on the Packers and the line looks like a hook to attract bets on Packers..+3 1/2. What is your take on this game and the line?

I really don't have an opinion yet...and probably won't.

My gut says the Packer euphoria is probably a little overblown and reflected in the line....but don't hold me to that.

I refuse to try to handicap preseason games using analysis...just too unpredictable. These games aren't even close to being real contests.

All I do for preseason picks is run them through a probability matrix based on recent history...hoping that we can have a slight edge from that.

Last year it worked really well but was probably mostly luck...this year I'm flat...which is what I would expect...maybe it will average out to +55% or so long term.

That would be good enough for the preseason fake games.

(Is there anything that changes with practice when you switch from outside to inside?)

No, it really doesn't change anything for us. The footwear for the players stays the same. That's the beauty of the surface on Nitschke and Hinkle and Lambeau Field. We were able to make the change seamless.

(Are you impressed with Aaron Rodgers' maturity thru the offseason and this camp?)
Yeah, Aaron is having a great camp. He is a hell of a quarterback, number one. You can just see the way he plays day in and day out. But yes, I definitely think he has matured and I think we can quit talking about it. I think he is a mature man now. Let's make it official.

(With teams getting better at salary cap management, is it easier to make trades now?)
I don't know. I think there's always some trades this time of year. I know we do a lot of scouting other teams. I'm sure a lot of people scout us as well. You try to find happy marriages where you might have some strengths as opposed to your weaknesses and the other teams vice-versa.

Training Camp Report: Stern Test Awaits In Arizona
by Mike Spofford
quote:
Knocking it around
Barnett was back to full participation in practice on Monday, but Tuesday was his first full-contact work in pads and everything appeared to go smoothly.

"I don't feel any limitations at this point," said Barnett, coming back from his 2008 ACL surgery. "I feel fast, feel like I can push off of it, feel like I can hit. We'll just take it day by day and learn about it as we keep going. I feel pretty good."

Barnett said he feels little "pops" in his knee on occasion, but the doctors have told him that's just scar tissue breaking up and it's nothing to worry about. He's been told the surgically repaired knee won't feel the same as the other one for a while, but a long, physical practice like Tuesday's - the players worked out for roughly 2½ hours in full pads - helps to get past some of those mental hurdles.

Poppinga Primed To Contribute

quote:

"The last thing we want to do as an outside pass rusher is to run up the field and run around the quarterback," Greene said. "That's not what Coach Dom wants. He wants the pass rush to collapse it from the outside in, not going up vertical of the quarterback. So we don't need finesse pass rushers here. We need violent, physical pass rushers. Does Brady fit the bill? Absolutely."

Training Camp Report:
Kapinos Trying To Make Most Out Of Extra Work

by Tom Fanning
quote:
Kapinos said Slocum, the team's special teams coordinator, has worked with him to shorten up the first step of his approach.

"The thing I really respect about Coach Slocum is you meet a lot of special teams coaches along the road in the NFL and sometimes they try to tell you something just to tell you something because they feel like they have to coach you," Kapinos said. "What I really respect about Coach Slocum is he has seen me since last year, so seven or eight months, and he has kind of got a gauge for how my punting is and what style is how I punt. When you get to this level you can't have three or four things that you have to keep correcting.

"It's just a matter of shortening up some steps, the first step. My style of punting, the shorter I am the better I am and the more I can get lift on the ball. It's just a matter of really just transferring that from a safe environment to live punts. It's an easy correction. It's something that I always seem to have to correct once a year. I can hit good balls with the long way, but it makes it a lot easier."

Injury update: Harrell says he'll play again
-Tom Pelissero
quote:
According to Harrell, two surgeries last year for a bulging disc left “pretty much bone on open bone” between two of his lower vertebrae. That’s the source of the discomfort that first sidelined Harrell in this camp on Aug. 6, but he said he’s received reassurances doctors can treat it with medicine and perhaps a pain-killing injection, not further surgery.

“You always start thinking down the road — not being able to walk and things like that,” he said. “But just talking with to all the doctors … I’m not doing really any more damage to my back by playing, so that helps get over the hump a little bit, and now it’s just trying to get the pain down where I can get back out there and play.”

Kapinos responds to added competition

-By Tom Pelissero
quote:
The Packers continue to monitor other punting competitions around the league for a possible cutdown-day swap, but considering the failed Derrick Frost experiment last year, they might be hesitant to claim the loser of another battle if Kapinos continues to perform adequately. The most notable competitions are in Denver, where incumbent Brett Kern (44.3 gross average, 38.5 net in preseason) is outpacing rookie Britton Colquitt (35.5, 34.5), and in Jacksonville, where Adam Podlesh (46.3 gross and net) is battling Steven Weatherford (42.4, 39.2).

Kapinos continues to focus on tightening his motion — he powers through the ball and sometimes overstrides on his first step as a result — and is convinced he’ll be punting in the NFL this year. If the Packers keep searching, so be it.

Following is a look at the Packers’ roster with two weeks left in camp. Teams are required to reduce their rosters from 80 to 75 players on Sept. 1, and to the regular-season limit of 53 players on Sept. 5. Crosby hopes to kick doubts
-By Greg A. Bedard
quote:
The truth is Crosby has, for the most part, been solid and improving.

He hit 79.5% of his field goals (31 of 39) as a rookie. While his percentage was nearly identical last season (79.4% - 27 of 34) and he ranked just 26th in the category among starting kickers, Crosby would have made 81.8% of his kicks had he not been asked to attempt a 69-yard free kick in the season finale against the Detroit Lions.

In fact, Crosby's leg is so big that coach Mike McCarthy has no qualms about trotting Crosby out for kicks over 50 yards, where three of his seven misses came from. Among regular kickers, only indoor kickers Jason Hanson and Josh Brown, and Sebastian Janikowski, attempted more kicks over 50.

Barnett return shakes up lineup
-By Tom Silverstein
quote:
And while Barnett was back in the middle, linebacker Brady Poppinga ran with the first team at right outside linebacker despite the return of Thompson, who was in the running with Matthews for the starting spot when he suffered a neck injury.

Thompson said he's completely recovered from the injury, but he said when the coaches asked him to play on the left side in practice, he caught the drift that Poppinga had solidified his hold on the job. Until Monday, Thompson had not played a single down on the left side and Poppinga was still considered a backup on the left side to Aaron Kampman

"I was playing primarily the right, but when I went out, Brady stepped in and did a really good job," Thompson said. "So, I think they're going to play Brady on the right side and (Aaron) Kampman and myself on the left. I'm going to look at it like there's always an opportunity, and I'm going to go out and play hard. What happens, happens."

Packers:
Healthy Clifton feels renewed

-By JASON WILDE
quote:

Clifton, 33, was pretty good in 2007, playing in his first Pro Bowl and helping the Packers advance to the NFC Championship Game. But then came last year, when he was limited by tendinitis in both knees to one or two practices a week in advance of games — and his performance on Sundays suffered.

While he was listed on weekly injury reports because of his knee problems, Clifton also suffered through pain in both shoulders, a hamstring problem and, late in the season, two sprained thumbs that knocked him out of the December game against Chicago.

“I think last year more than anything was the combination of the knees and shoulders, but I had other injuries as well,” said Clifton, who despite those various injuries has started 94 of a possible 96 regular-season games over the past six years. “It seemed like last year a lot of things were just wearing down on me. And it started early.

-By JASON WILDE
quote:
Back' in Action: “We know what’s causing it now, we just have to get the pain down. It’s going to flare up again, so we have to just manage it to the best of our ability,” Harrell said. “Talking with all the doctors, I’m not doing any more damage to my back by playing. Now, it’s just trying to get the pain down where I can play. We’re just trying medication now, maybe an injection down the road.”

Harrell, who recently admitted he was worried that his career might be over before it really starts, said “without a doubt” he’ll play again.

“We spoke to five doctors, and they reassured me this is something I can get over,” Harrell said.

Preseason Week 2, Winners/Losers
-by Don Banks
quote:
WINNER -- Not to repeat myself from last week, but how can you not be impressed with the speed at which Green Bay's defense has embraced the 3-4 formation that new coordinator Dom Capers brought to town? Stuffing the Browns and Bills offenses hasn't been the biggest challenge in recent years, but the Packers have forced nine turnovers in their first two preseason games, and Buffalo had just 18 yards of total offense in the first half of Green Bay's 31-21 win Saturday night.

I picked up on two vibes during my day at Packers camp earlier this month, and they were that this defense is much better than most folks know, and quarterback Aaron Rodgers is ready to roll. Through two weeks and two impressive Packers wins, I'm more convinced than ever.

Source: 'Little support' for Favre
<hr size="1" width="100%" noshade="noshade"> By Adam Schefter
ESPN

<!-- template inline -->What two knowledgeable NFL people described earlier this week as an "issue" in the Minnesota Vikings locker room was described Wednesday by a third informed person as a "schism."
The issue is quarterback Brett Favre, and the schism is the preference that certain Vikings players have for specific quarterbacks.
Sources with knowledge of the Vikings' locker-room dynamics say some players believe Tarvaris Jackson gives the Vikings the best chance to win; other players believe Sage Rosenfels gives the team the best chance -- which is one of the new twists to this storyline.

In the words of one NFL source, Favre has "little support" in the locker room as Minnesota prepares for its Monday night preseason game against the Houston Texans. Favre, who signed only last week, struggled in his one preseason appearance but could easily win backers with improved performance and victories.
One NFL source said, however, that these locker-room issues were present long before the team signed Favre, and it's possible they will not go away any time soon unless Favre can completely silence them with his play. Vikings coach Brad Childress was even asked Wednesday about the speculation.
"I've seen the same reports you've seen," Childress said. "Those are opinions. It's hard to shoot holes in an opinion. It's just that -- an opinion. I certainly don't see it."
Asked if he addressed with the players that friendships must become secondary to winning, Childress said: "I think all of them will cite that business is business. Whether they like it or not, that's the way it is. As I told Tarvaris, 'I don't expect you to like it.' He's a highly competitive guy, and he came back and played very well.
"That benefits him, that benefits us. There's no downside to that. I don't expect those guys to like it. But I expect them to deal with it and go forward. And by and large, that's exactly what's happened." NFC North blog

ESPN.com's Kevin Seifert writes about all things NFC North in his division blog.

NFL Nation

If Favre plays well, it's possible the schism could disappear. But it's also possible that if Favre struggles, the drama that accompanied his entrance only will increase, threatening to affect the Vikings' season and Childress' future.
The presumptive Hall of Famer does have one big ally -- Adrian Peterson, who has confessed to being one of Favre's biggest fans, even while being a close personal friend of Jackson's. "There's just a love I have for him and how he plays the game," Peterson said. "I play the game the same way." They are neighbors in the locker room at team headquarters, and Peterson has wasted little time getting to know the man he has been watching "since I was in elementary school." "To get to sit there and chitchat with Brett Favre, it's fun," Peterson said after practice on Wednesday. "He's a good guy. I was a fan of his for a long time and still am. I'm definitely taking advantage of it." Adam Schefter is an ESPN NFL Insider. Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

Probably the most important thing to come out of the post-game locker room was that wide receiver Greg Jennings said he sustained a concussion when he got sandwiched between Cardinals cornerback Bryant McFadden and safety Aaron Francisco on his first-quarter 25-yard reception.

“Got hit, got a concussion,” Jennings said on his way out of the locker room. “But I’m good now.”

Jennings said he got knocked unconscious briefly.

“Yeah for a second or two,” he said. “It’s part of football. I’m good now. Everything’s working normal. I called the wife and told her everything’s good, and I’m good to go.”

? Coach MIke McCarthy said defensive end Michael Montgomery has a broken thumb, although Montgomery said the X-ray machine at the stadium was not working. Montgomery’s left hand was heavily taped. He said someone stepped on his hand.

? Safety Atari Bigby sustained a sprained thumb.

? Running back Brandon Jackson has a bruised shin.

Once again, Aaron Rodgers was almost unconscious, completing 14 of 19 passes for 258 yards, three touchdowns and a passer rating of 155.2.

A fourth scoring pass, 6 yards to James Jones, was wiped out when Jones was penalized for leaving the field of play.

Rodgers went through his progressions in machine-gun fashion and threw the deep ball with remarkable accuracy.

"Fabulous," one of the scouts said. "Touch. Control. Command of the offense. The guy looks fabulous."

Among his finest throws was a 25-yard post to Greg Jennings,

a 55-yard home run to Donald Driver, a 76-yard bomb to Jordy Nelson against a blown coverage and a 32-yard fade to Jones against blanket coverage by talented but erratic cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

On his final play, Rodgers zipped an 11-yard touchdown to tight end Jermichael Finley on a fade in the corner of the end zone against Rodgers-Cromartie. Just 4 seconds remained in the half.

No. 1 Offense Puts On First-Half Display

by Tom Fanning
quote:

Leading the charge for the offense once again was quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who continued his impressive preseason play by completing 14-of-19 passes for 258 yards, three touchdowns and a 155.2 quarterback rating in a half of play as the Packers rushed out to a 38-10 lead at the break.

snip

The first offense has not had to punt in the preseason and the No. 1 offensive line has yet to yield a sack of Rodgers, who has connected on 27-of-38 attempts for 458 yards, six touchdowns, no interceptions and a 151.1 quarterback rating in the three preseason games.

Woodson Leads The Way On Takeaways

by Tom Fanning
quote:
For the third straight game, Green Bay's defense forced four or more turnovers, and cornerback Charles Woodson made his presence felt with two forced fumbles that led to scores for the Packers.

Woodson led the defense with two sacks and three forced fumbles, and the Packers' defense has now produced a staggering 13 takeaways in just three preseason games.

We had a challenge there early in the first half where both the headsets on the offense and the defense went down, and we probably could've handled that a little better. There's always things you can learn from in this game. I think overall three weeks in a row we've been very positive in a lot of our production, but it's important to win. You always go out to win. Packers starters continue to impress against Cardinals
By Rob Demovsky

Woodson also had a third forced fumble, this one of receiver Jerheme Urban, but cornerback Tramon Williams couldn’t recover it before it went out of bounds, and the Cardinals managed a field goal on that drive.
greenbaypressgazette.com
Insider:
Woodson hits paydirt as blitzer

quote:

The most glaring error was a shaky snap-hold-kick combination when Mason Crosby missed a 29-yard field goal near the end of the first half. Part of the problem might have been that the Packers used their No. 3 holder, Ruvell Martin, because of injuries to quarterback Matt Flynn (bruised throwing shoulder) and punter Durant Brooks (hip flexor).

The problem is, the other punter, Jeremy Kapinos, isn’t a good holder, so Martin is working in that role ahead of him. This could be a problem later in the season because Brooks’ injury is a big blow to his chances of making the team, meaning there’s a good chance Kapinos will be the punter to start the season.

So, if anything happens to Flynn in the regular season, the Packers’ kicking game could suffer. On Crosby’s missed kick, something in the timing was off. The snap from Brett Goode appeared to be OK, if a little inside, and Martin seemed to get the ball down a little slowly. Crosby knew he missed the kick as soon as he kicked it and was visibly upset.

Trade talks heat up as roster cuts near

By Rob Demovsky
quote:
Friday’s preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals at University of Phoenix Stadium drew scouts from eight teams. That’s not an inordinate amount for a preseason game, especially considering two of the scouts represent teams the Packers play the first two weeks of the season, Chicago and Cincinnati, and one represents the team (San Francisco) the Cardinals play in Week 1

(snip)

Thompson typically makes some additional moves on or after the final cuts. Last year, he added punter Derrick Frost and long snapper Brett Goode the day after the final cuts. Two years ago, he acquired running back Ryan Grant in a trade on the day of the cuts.

Teams must cut to 75 players on Tuesday, which means three more moves for the Packers, and then 53 a week from today.

Cardinals didn't prepare as much as the Packers
By Tom Silverstein
quote:
"They hit us a couple times on big plays," Capers said. "That's going to be part of the deal. Hopefully, you don't have many of those, but you're going to have those mixed in. You're talking about one of the top five offenses in the league we played tonight.

"I thought it would be a good test for us. We can certainly make improvement in a lot of technical areas, communication areas, those type of things. I like the fact we continue to get the ball taken away."

Capers said the Packers had a communication problem in the first half in which the receiver in linebacker A.J. Hawk's helmet was not functioning and Capers was unable to relay the proper call into the defense. As a result, the defense was forced to play a simplified version of its scheme.

"Three or four times the call didn't get in," Capers said. "We had a base call that we'd make. We ended up having to make that base call too much."

Here were the Packers' top receivers:

Jermichael Finley: 4 catches, 28 yards, 2 TDs

Jordy Nelson, 3 catches, 88 yards, 1 TD

James Jones, 3 catches, 50 yards

Driver, 1 catch, 55 yards

Passing game flies high as offense rolls
Receivers run wild, pile up yards

By Tom Silverstein
quote:
The Packers did not start out like a team looking to whip the Cardinals into submission with their passing game. Coach Mike McCarthy called a number of running plays on the first drive until a holding penalty on Driver forced the offense into a first and 20.

After Ryan Grant ran for 8 yards, Rodgers hit Jennings on a skinny post for a 25-yard gain and then scrambled for a 34-yard gain on play later to open the flood gates.

On the Packers' third possession, Rodgers was facing a third and 8 at his own 36 when he caught linebacker Chike Okeafor jumping offside. Knowing he had a Bonus Play, he escaped Okeafor's rush and threw a bomb to Driver, who made a marvelous running catch with cornerback Antrel Rolle draped all over him.

"I saw the flag on the play with Driver," Rodgers said. "I just tried to elude the first guy. Donald, great feel for the game, took it deep."

Rodgers finished the drive with the first of Finley's two touchdowns. With all day in the pocket, he merely waited for Finley to juke his way free from safety Adrian Wilson.

Im a couple of days away from my fantasy draft. This will be my third year to even play fantasy football so im still kind of new at it. My question to you fellow packer fans is, what is the latest round i could probably get Aaron Rodgers at? I want him for quarterback but I would like to get 4 solid RB/WR positions first. Your opinions would be helpful

I took him in the late 2nd round of my draft...he's going to light it up all year.

When they go into their 4 and 5 receiver sets...who in the hell is going to cover those guys?

I nabbed Jermichel Finley at the end of the draft too...and Mason Crosby for cheap. I see nothing but fantasy value all across the board for Packers this year.

A-Rod has been going at an average position of 39 on national draft boards.

So in a 12 team draft near the end of round 3 or early round 4.

Thats too late to get him if you want him...but it also depends on your league. Are they rookies or seasoned fantasy players?

You better pull the trigger in round 3 if he is still there...and you really want him. I don't think round 2 is too early, but thats just me and I draft in a Wisconsin league...so we are fighting over him a little bit.

RB's are deep this year in my opinion.

Financially, the Green Bay Packers are your average National Football League franchise.
According to Forbes magazine’s annual analysis of franchise values, the average team enterprise value (equity plus debt) is $1 billion, which also happens to be the value Forbes placed on the Packers, ranking them 17th of 32 teams.

Also, the magazine determined that 63 percent of the Packers’ value is derived from league revenue sharing, ranking Green Bay 18th. It was one of six teams whose value did not change in the last year, recession notwithstanding, and it was 15th in revenue.

The Packers lagged in operating income, ranking 26th, but that was balanced by their league-leading 2 percent debt to value ratio.

The value of the Green Bay Packers franchise was unchanged from 2008 to 2009, but the team did fall one place in overall National Football League ranking.

According to Forbes’ annual analysis, the Packers are worth $1.02 billion. The Dallas Cowboys were first at $1.65 billion and the Oakland Raiders last at $797 million.

The Raiders were among eight teams that saw their value decline, the first time in 10 years that any team decreased in value year-over-year.

Kurt Badenhausen, a reporter for Forbes, said that ultimately how much a team is worth is what someone is willing to pay for it. While many NFL teams have been bought over the years, the publicly owned Packers never have and aren’t likely to be.

The Packers are the only NFL team required to publish financial information. As a result, the NFL’s revenue sharing payments, distributed equally to each team, are available for everyone to see.

Estimating local revenue is more difficult, Badenhausen said.

“Every stadium in the NFL is different in terms of capacity and pricing and sponsorship opportunities,” he said. “We like to think the revenue figures we have for all the teams are quite accurate.”

The report, in the current issue of Forbes and online at www.forbes.com/NFL, said, tight credit markets, a precipitous decline in the number of people who could afford to buy a team and an unusually high number of franchises looking for investors combined to lower the average revenue multiple used to value teams.

Debt is a significant issue for a number of teams, especially those building new stadiums. New York’s Jets and Giants, who are jointly building a new stadium, lead the league in debt to value ratios, the Jets at 64 percent and the Giants at 55 percent.

That said, Forbes determined that 2008 was the NFL’s third most profitable year ever, with operating income rising 31 percent to an average of $32 million.

You would think a company's product that consists of 100 dudes throwing a $50 leather ball around a grass field wouldn't cost that much to put on. But in spite of the billions in TV deals (DirecTV has a billion dollar contract to do Sunday Ticket, that's not even counting the regular networks' fee to broadcast the games), but still the profit margins are super tight.

I grabbed Jermichael Finley at the end of the two drafts I was in as well. He is going to be a stud this year for sure. Tons of value.

Note: Teams in bold have made moves since the last update. All moves have announced or have been confirmed

Arizona Cardinals - Waived OT Elliot Vallejo from IR with injury settlement, waived OT Brandon Pearce, placed WR Michael Ray Garvin on IR, placed LB Pago Togafau on IR, released S Keith Lewis, placed OLB Cody Brown on IR, waived LB Chase Bullock, waived G Trevor Canfield, waived FB Tim Castille, waived CB Jameel Dowling, waived DT Keilen Dykes, waived DE Alex Fontenot, waived DE Alex Field, released C Melvin Fowler, released S Aaron Francisco, waived WR Ed Gant, released LB Victor Hobson, waived LB David Holloway, waived WR Onrea Jones, waived DT Rodney Leisle, waived FB Reagan Maui'a, waived G Carlton Medder, waived QB Tyler Palko, waived TE Leonard Pope, released OT Oliver Ross, waived RB Chris Vincent, waived WR Steve Sanders.

Analysis: The Cardinals reached the 53-man roster limit on Friday. Lewis is a solid special teams player, so he should find work soon. Canfield should wind up on their practice squad. Francisco should find interest because of his special teams play. Hobson is a solid backup who should find work soon. Ross also should be able to find work soon.

Atlanta Falcons - Waived DE Willie Evans, released TE Ben Hartsock, released S/CB Von Hutchins, waived DT Tywain Myles, waived LS Robert Shiver, released DT Jason Jefferson, waived WR Troy Bergeron, waived RB Thomas Brown, waived OL Michael Butterworth, released WR Robert Ferguson, waived LB Robert James, waived WR Aaron Kelly, waived DE Maurice Lucas, waived CB William Middleton, waived TE Jason Rader, waived QB D.J. Shockley, waived G Jose Valdez, waived DT Vance Walker, released LB Jamie Winborn.

Analysis: Hartsock found a job a few days after getting released. Because of Hutchins' versatility, he should find a job relatively soon. Same with Winborn. Middleton's a practice squad candidate.

Baltimore Ravens - Released QB Cleo Lemon, waive WR Biren Ealy, waived WR Bradon Godfrey, waived QB Drew Willy, placed CB Samari Rolle on the Reserve/PUP list, waived KR/WR Yamon Figurs, traded CB Derrick Martin to the Green Bay Packers for OT Tony Moll, waived WRs Jayson Foster and Justin Harper, waived G Bryan Mattison, waived CB Evan Oglesby, waived OTs Joe Reitz and Stefan Rodgers, waived TE Isaac Smolko, waived G Tre Stallings, waived WR Ernie Wheelwright, waived DT Nader Abdallah, waived FB Jason Cook, waived TE Davon Drew, waived LB Tony Fein, waived C Robby Felix, waived K Graham Cano, waived S K.J. Gerard, waived RB Cedric Peerman, waived WR Eron Riley, waived OLB William VanDeSteeg, waived with injury settlement DT Will Johnson, placed ILB Jason Phillips on IR.

Analysis: Because of the lack of available quarterbacks in free agency, Lemon could find work soon.

Buffalo Bills - Released LB Pat Thomas, waived OT Chris Denman, waived LB Solomon Elimimian, waived WR Shaine Smith, waived TE Travis McCall from IR with an injury settlement, placed WR Lydell Sargeant on IR, placed DE Marcus Smith on IR, signed TE Tyson DeVree, traded S Ko Simpson to the Detroit Lions for an undisclosed 2010 draft choice, released RB Dominic Rhodes, waived QB Matt Baker, waived LB Alvin Bowen, waived DE Copeland Bryan, waived TE Tyson DeVree waived DE Ataefiok Etukeren, waived OL Christian Gaddis, waived RB Bruce Hll, waived CB Cary Harris, waived WR C.J, Hawthorne, waived OL Nick Hennessey, waived WR Felton Huggins, waived DTs Derrick Jones and Corey Mace, waived LB Ryan Manalac, waived TE Jonathan Stupar, waived/injured OL Brandon Rodd, LB John DiGiorgio waived/failed physical, WR James Hardy placed on Reserve/Physically Unable to perform.

Analysis: Rhodes shouldn't have trouble finding work considering how weak the RBs are that remain in free agency.

Carolina Panthers - Waived DT Lonnie Harvey, waived OT Gerald Cadogan, waived WR Ryne Robinson, waived DT Lorenzo Williams, placed S Nate Salley on IR, placed G C.J. Davis on IR.

Chicago Bears - Placed DT Dusty Dvoracek on IR, waived WR John Broussard, waived WR Derek Kinder, waived P Richmond McGhee, waived DE J.J. Milan, signed CB Rod Hood, waived G Johan Asiata, waived DE Ervin Baldwin, waived OT Cody Balogh, waived QB Brett Basanez, waived CB Rudy Burgess, waived DE Joe Clermond, waived FB Jason Davis, waived LB Marcus Freeman, waived CB Marcus Hamilton, waived LB Kevin Malast, waived WR Eric Peterman, waivd C Donvan Raiola, waived WR Brandon Rideau, waived LB Mike Rivera, waived FB Will Ta’ufo’ou, waived CB Woodny Turenne, placed S Dahna Deleston on IR, placed RB Kevin Jones on IR, placed DE Henry Melton on IR, released G Dan Buenning, released CB Rod Hood, released LB Darrell McClover, removed CB Charles Tillman from PUP list.

Cincinnati Bengals - Waived WR Greg Orton, Waived DT Pernell Phillips, placed TE Ben Utecht on IR, placed WR Antonio Chatman on IR, released OLB Darryl Blackstock, released LB Jim Maxwell, released DT Langston Moore, waived S Marvin White, waived G Andrew Crummey with injury settlement, waived S Corey Lynch, waived G/DT Jason Shirley, waived DE Chris Harrington, waived RB James Johnson, waived TE Kolomona Kapanui, waived WR Freddie Brown, waived TE Darius Hill, waived DTs Ventrell Jenkins and Clinton McDonald, waived CB Rico Murray, waived OT Gus Parrish, waived FB Chris Pressley, waived LB Dan Skuta, waived K Sam Swank, waived FB Fui Vakapuna.

Analysis: That's two injury plagued seasons for Utecht. No surprises at all. Blackstock will garner some interest because of his pass rush skills. White should find some interest as a backup. First-round pick OT Andre Smith (foot) remains on a roster exemption and isn't counting against their 53-man roster. The exemption expires on 9/14. TE Matt Sherry (shoulder) will go on IR on Tuesday.

Cleveland Browns - Waived G Marlon Davis, placed OT/G Ryan Tucker on IR, placed G Fred Weary on IR, released TE Nate Jackson, released LB Robert McCune, signed OT Branndon Braxton, waived CB Tra Battle, waived DE Melila Purcell from IR with an injury settlement, waived FB Charles Ali, waived S Brandon Anderson, waived QB Richard Bartel, waived ILB Beau Bell, waived Branndon Braxton, waived LB Titus Brown, waived OL Dustin Fry, waived DL Adam Hoppel, waived WR Paul Hubbard, waived RB Chris Jennings, waived WR Lance Leggett, waived OL Pat Murray, waived WR Jordan Norwood, waived OL Kurt Quarterman, waived DL Brian Schaefering, waived OL Isaac Sowell, waived DL Santonio Thomas, released S Hamza Abdullah, released RB Noah Herron, released CB Corey Ivy, released WR David Patten, released TE Aaron Walker.

Analysis: McCune served in the armed forces, so he started his football career later than most others.

Dallas Cowboys - Waived WR Travis Wilson off of IR with injury settlement, waived WR Julian Hawkins, waived G Greg Isdaner, claimed DE Curtis Johnson off of waivers from Indianapolis, waived OT Andre Douglas, signed CB Jeremy Haynes, claimed CB DeAngelo Willingham off waivers from Tampa Bay, waived G Travis Bright, waived S Courtney Brown, waived QB Rudy Carpenter, waived FB Julius Crosslin, waived DE Marcus Dixon, waived LB Tearrius George, waived G Ryan Gibbons, waived CB Jeremy Haynes, waived WR Jesse Holley, waived WRs Mike Jefferson, Mike Jefferson, and Manuel Johnson, waived FB Keon Lattimore, waived CB Mike Mickens, waived WR Willie Reid, waived DE Derreck Robinson, waived FB Asaph Schwapp, waived DT Jonas Seawright, waived S DeAngelo Smith, waived WR Isaiah Stanbach, released LB Matt Stewart, waived CB DeAngelo Willingham, placed LB Stephen Hodge on IR.

Analysis: Wilson is a former third-round pick of the Browns who never made any impact.

Denver Broncos - Waived P Britton Colquitt, waived WR C.J. Jones, waived C Blake Schlueter, released TE Jeb Putzier, waived DT Matthias Askew, waived G Kory Lichtensteiger, waived QB Ingle Martin, waived CB Rashod Moulton, waived OT Clint Oldenburg, waived DE Carlton Powell, waived LB Lee Robinson, waived WR Nate Swift, waived RB Marcus Thomas, placed G Matt McChesney on IR.

Detroit Lions- Claimed CB Cletis Gordon off of waivers from the Texans, waived WR Eric Fowler, released CB Keith Smith, waived WR Glenn Holt, released CB Dexter Wynn with injury waiver, signed QB Brooks Bollinger, claimed QB Kevin O'Connell off of waivers from New England, released G Terrence Metcalf, waived WR D.J. Boldin, waived LB Rob Francois, waived CB LaMarcus Hicks, waived DE Ryan Kees, acquired S Ko Simpson for an undisclosed 2010 draft choice, waived DE Orion Martin, released DT Chuck Darby, waived OT Lydon Murtha, placed CB Chris Roberson on IR, released DT Shaun Smith, waived LB Rufus Alexander, released QB Brooks Bollinger, released G Milford Brown, waived TE Carson Butler, released RB Aveion Cason, released WR Keary Colbert, waived DE Sean Conover, released K Billy Cundiff, waived RB Tristan Davis, waived LB Zack Follett, waived C Dan Gerberry, waived TE Dan Gronkowski, released WR Dane Looker, released S Calvin Lowry, waived CB Ramzee Robinson, released S Stuart Schweigert, waived LB Spenser Smith, waived WR John Standeford.

Analysis: The Lions are using the heck out of their top spot on the waiver wire these days. Darby should easily find work soon based on the lack of decent talent available at defensive tackle. Murtha should land on Detroit's practice squad if he's not claimed by another team first.

Green Bay Packers- Waived P Durant Brooks, waived WR JaRon Harris, waived DE Stryker Sulak, traded OT Tony Moll to Baltimore Ravens for CB Derrick Martin, waived QB Brian Brohm, waived WR Jake Allen, waived CB Trevor Ford, waived OL Andrew Hartline, waived WR Kole Heckendorf, waived LB Danny Lansanah, waived RB Kregg Lumpkin, waived DE Alfred Malone, waived WR Ruvell Martin, waived OT Jamon Meredith, waived DT Dean Muhtadi, waived OLB Cyril Obiozor, waived CB Joe Porter, waived OT Dane Randolph, released S Anthony Smith, waived RB Tyrell Sutton, waived DE Ronald Talley, waived DT Anthony Toribio, placed DL Justin Harrell on IR, placed CB Patrick Lee on IR, placed TE Evan Moore on IR, placed S Charlie Peprah on IR.

Analysis: Sulak is the sixth-round pick of the Raiders who was cut before camps opened. Yeah, that made a lot sense. Interesting that the Packers showed strong interest in Joe Flacco before the 2008 draft. Amazing how things have turned out for both players. Have to think the Packers will sign or trade for a veteran QB soon. Matt Flynn is not going to be ready to start if Aaron Rodgers gets hurt. Flynn is really a No. 3 quarterback.

Houston Texans - Waived WR Michael Jones, waived CB David Pittman, waived OT Jason Watkins, released OLB Cato June from IR with an injury settlement, waived QB Alex Brink, released LB Khary Campbell, waived LB Buster Davis, waived FB Jonathan Evans, waived RB Arian Foster, waived TE Clark Harris, waived S Brandon Harrison, waived C Brett Helms, waived DE Tim Jamison, waived WR Darnell Jenkins, released G Adrian Jones, waived DT Josh Leonard, waived DE Jesse Nading, released CB Deltha O'Neal, waived CB Mark Parson, waived Matterral Richardson, waived WR Mark Simmons, waived OT Adam Stenavich, waived OT Brandon Torrey, waived OT Cliff Washburn, waived CB A.J. Davis, waived LB Toddrick Verdell.

Analysis: Foster will land on the practice squad if he's not claimed by another team. Jones should find backup work somewhere else, same with Campbell.

Indianapolis Colts - Waived S Marcus Paschal, removed K Adam Vinatieri off of PUP list, waived DE Curtis Johnson, waived TE Colin Cloherty, waived CB Michael Coe from IR with an injury settlement, placed DE Rudolph Hardie on IR, waived CB Dante Hughes, waived CB Nick Graham.

Analysis: K Shane Andrus remains on the roster for now.

Jacksonville Jaguars - Waived WR Clarence Denmark, waived WR Maurice Dupree, waived DT Jervonte Jackson, waived TE Tyler Lorenzen, waived QB Paul Smith, placed CB Don Carey on IR, waived LB Lamar Myles, signed QB Todd Boeckman.

Analysis: Nothing like getting an extra sixth-round player (Casey) for a waiver claim.

Kansas City Chiefs - Waived OT Cameron Goldberg, released WR Amani Toomer, released DL Alfonso Boone, placed WR Devard Darling on IR, placed RB Kolby Smith on Reserve/PUP list, waived FB Jed Collins, waived CB Londen Fryar, released C Eric Ghiaciuc, released OT Damion McIntosh, waived LB Corey Smith, waived OT Herb Taylor, waived G Tavares Washington, released CB Travis Daniels, waived CB Jackie Bates, waived DE Dion Gales, waived DE Bobby Greenwood, waived DE Bobby Greenwood, waived G Bobby Greenwood, waived WR Taurus Johnson, released WR Ashley Lelie, waived DT Derek Lokey, released S Bernard Pollard, waived S Ricky Price, released MLB/ILB Zach Thomas, waived RB Javarris Williams, waived WR Rodney Wright, placed G Colin Brown on IR.

Analysis: Toomer may be at the end of the line. Boone should find interest because he can play in either the 3-4 or 4-3. McIntosh should be able to find a backup job. UDFA LBs Pierre Walters and Jovan Belcher have been told they've made the 53-man roster.

Miami Dolphins - Waived K Connor Barth, waived WR Anthony Armstrong, waived DT Louis Ellis, waived TE Joe Kowalewski from IR with an injury settlement, waived S Courtney Bryan, waived OT Brandon Frye, waived LB William Kershaw, waived WR Brandon London, waived CB Joey Thomas, waived DE Roderique Wright, and placed OLB Matt Roth on Reserve/Non-Football Injury List, waived: DE Ryan Baker, waived CB Will Billingsley, waived LB J.D. Folsom, waived OT Nate Garner, waived OL Mark Lewis, waived WR James Robinson.

Minnesota Vikings- Waived K Taylor Mehlhaff, waived CB Derrick Roberson, waived RB Antone Smith, waived G Nick Urban, waived TE/FB Garrett Mills, waived S Colt Anderson, waived QB John David Booty, waived FB Nehemiah Broughton, waived DE Martail Bennett, waived OT Chris Clark, waived G Brian Daniels, waived OL Juan Garcia, released DE Otis Grigsby, waived S De'von Hall, waived LB David Herron, waived DT Antoine Holmes, waived RB Ian Johnson, waived DT Tremaine Johnson, waived G Andy Kemp, waived CB Marcus McCauley, waived TE Jake Nordin, waived WR Nick Moore, waived WR Vinny Perretta, waived OT Drew Radovich, waived CB Marcus Walker, waived WR Bobby Williams.

Analysis: Mills could find interest from the Kansas City Chiefs, New England Patriots, and a few other teams.

New England Patriots - Waived QB Kevin O'Connell, released LS Nate Hodel, placed ILB Tedy Bruschi on Reserve/Retired list, placed OT Mark LeVoir on Reserve/PUP list, placed LB Tyrone McKenzie on IR, placed WR Brandon Tate on Reserve/Non-Football Injury list, released QB Andrew Walter, released LB Vinny Ciurciu, released G Billy Yates, waived WR Robert Ortiz, waived S Roderick Rogers, waived DT Steve Williams, waived S Ray Ventrone, traded TE David Thomas to New Orleans Saints for 2011 seventh-round pick, acquired TE Michael Matthews for a conditional draft pick, waived DL Titus Adams, released OT Wesley Britt, released S Herana-Daze Jones, released MLB/ILB Paris Lenon, waived DB Jamar Love, waived WR Terrence Nunn, waived OT Ryan O'Callaghan, waived DL Darryl Richard, released TE Alex Smith, placed OL George Bussey on IR, placed OLB Shawn Crable on IR, placed RB Chris Taylor on IR.

Analysis: When the Patriots give up on a third-round pick after the first year, that should tell you something. UDFA QB Brian Hoyer was a big reason why O'Connell was waived. Hoyer is their No. 2 QB for now.

New Orleans Saints- Waived CB Greg Fassitt, placed WR D'Juan Woods on IR, released DT Rod Coleman, acquired TE David Thomas from New England Patriots for a 2011 seventh-round pick, placed TE Billy Miller on IR, placed FB FB Olaniyi Sobomehin on IR, placed S Chip Vaughn on IR, waived WR Adrian Arrington, waived G Nate Bennett, waived OT Michael Brown, waived C Digger Bujnoch, waived RB Herb Donaldson, waived G Tim Duckworth, waived CB Danny Gorrer, waived WR Skyler Green, waived DT Earl Heyman, waived RB P.J, Hill, waived TE Martrez Milner, waived OT Jermey Parnell, waived DT DeMario Pressley, waived WR Courtney Roby, waived WR Matt Simon, waived LB Anthony Waters, released OL Anthony Davis, released QB Joey Harrington, released DE Paul Spicer.

Analysis: Coleman didn't play last season and the 33-year old defensive lineman may be done considering his defensive line coach from his days with the Falcons, Bill Johnson, is coaching with the Saints.

New York Giants - Waived TE Lee Vickers, signed OT Terrance Pennington, placed OT Andrew Carnahan on IR, waived WR Taye Biddle, placed RB Andre Brown on IR, waived CB Stoney Woodson from IR with an injury settlement, removed LB Michael Boley from Active/PUP list, released WR David Tyree, placed DT Jay Alford on IR, traded TE Michael Matthews to the New England Patriots for a conditional draft pick, waived/injured DT Jeremy Clark, waived: QBs Andre Woodson and Rhett Bomar, RB Allen Patrick, FB Dwayne Wright, OLs Terrence Pennington, Orrin Thompson, and Cliff Louis, WR Shaun Bodiford, DLs Maurice Evans, Tommie Hill, Robert Henderson, and Anthony Bryant, LB Kenny Ingram, CB DeAndre Wright, and Ss Travonti Johsnon, Vince Anderson, and Sha’reff Rashad.

New York Jets - Waived P Glenn Pakulak, waived RB Craig Kobel, waived S Nate Ness, waived QB Chris Pizzotti, waived WR Huey Whittaker, waived LB Josh Mauga, waived P Ken Parrish, signed TE Ben Hartsock, WR Aundrae Allison placed on IR. Waived: CB Rashad Barksdale, TEs Kevin Brock and Kareem Brown, RB Jehuu Caulcrick, FB Brock Christopher, S Emanuel Cook, LB Kenwin Cummings, OL Stanley Daniels, WR Britt Davis, K Parker Douglass, WR Marcus Henry, RB Anthony Kimble, DL Matt Kroul, OT Nevin McCaskill, OT Ryan McKee, C Michael Parenton, DE Zach Potter, TE Jack Simmons, DL Ty Steinkuhler, place DE Shaun Ellis and OLB Calvin Pace on Reserve/Suspended list.

Analysis: Hartsock will take over the No. 2 TE role with the Jets. No real surprises at all here.

Oakland Raiders - Waived WR Shawn Bayes, waived DT Joe Cohen, waived WR Will Franklin, waived G Jonathan Compas, released G/OT Marcus Johnson, waived: S Jerome Boyd, DB Darrick Brown, DE Greyson Gunheim, WR Jonathan Holland, OL James Marten, LB David Nixon, LB Slade Norris, LB Chris O'Neill, FB Marcel Reece, RB Gary Russell, P/K Ricky Schmitt, TE Darrell Strong, OL Mark Wilson, released: DT Ryan Boschetti, QB Jeff Garcia, OLB Morlon Greenwood, CB Justin Miller, DT Terdell Sands, OT Seth Wand, CB Michael Hawkins waived/injured, C John Wade placed on IR, S Rashad Baker placed on IR.

Philadelphia Eagles - Waived OT Chris Patrick, waived S Brandon Harrison, waived LB Charleston Hughes with injury settlement, placed LB Stewart Bradley on IR, placed TE Cornelius Ingram on IR, released DE Jason Babin but re-signed DE Jason Babin to a new deal, waived DE/TE Eugene Bright, waived DT Willie Williams, waived LB Curtis Gatewood with injury waiver, released LB Matt Wilhelm, waived WR Danny Amendola, waived RB Lorenzo Booker, waived LB Tank Daniels, waived FB Kyle Eckel, waived G Paul Fanaika, waived DE Josh Gaines, waived G Mike Gibson, waived CB Jack Ikegwuonu, released DT Dan Klecko, waived S Reshard Langford, waived FB Marcus Mailei, waived TE Rob Myers, waived G Dallas Reynolds, released TE Matt Schobel, waived DE Bryan Smith, waived CB Trae Williams, placed OT Fenuki Tupou on IR, placed QB Michael Vick on exempt list.

Analysis: Too bad Ingram got hurt as the coaches had big plans for him. That's two ACL injuries to the same knee. With Babin coming back, the team tried to trade DE Bryan Smith, but had no takers, so he was waived. Booker was a major disappointment to say the least. Vick can't practice until week three unless they activate him from the exempt list before then. Look for Myers to go to the practice squad unless he's claimed before that. Eagles carrying just two TEs at the moment. Wilhelm being cut was a bit surprising. Eagles have been looking for MLB help for weeks.

Pittsburgh Steelers- Waived WR Steven Black, waived WR Martin Nance, waived S Derrick Richardson, released C Alex Stepanovich, placed G Darnell Stapleton on IR, waived OLB Bruce Davis, waived CB Anthony Madison, waived QB Mike Reilly, waived FB Carey Davis, waived RBs Isaac Redman and Justin Vincent, waived WRs Dallas Baker, Brandon Williams, and Tyler Grisham, waived TE Dezmond Sherrod, waived OLs Jason Capizzi, Jeremy Parquet, and A.Q. Shipley, waived DLs Sonny Harris, Steve McClendon, and Scott Paxson, waived LBs Tom Korte, Andy Schantz, and Donovan Woods, waived S Roy Lewis, waived K Piotr Czech, placed FB/TE Sean McHugh on IR.

Analysis: Madison is an excellent special teams player so he should find a new home soon. Reilly has good developmental value and could be claimed off waivers. Rookie Frank Summers wins FB job.

San Diego Chargers - Waived LB Anthony Felder, waived WRs Rodgeriqus Smith and Greg Carr, waived OT Dan Gay, placed WR Demetrius Byrd on Reserve/Non-Football Injury List, placed S Brandon Hughes on IR, placed DE Ryon Bingham on IR, waived LB Eric Bakhtiari, waived WR Gary Banks, waived LB Darry Beckwith, waived CB Simeon Castille, waived OT Corey Clark, waived DE Andre Coleman, waived TE Charles Davis, waived G Ray Feinga, released G Kynan Forney, waived DE Keith Grennan, waived LB James Holt, released DT Rashaad Jackson, waived FB Billy Latsko, waived WR Charly Martin, waived C Ryan McDonald, waived RB Kestahn Moore, released DT Ian Scott, waived OT L.J. Shelton, waived CB Antonio Smith, waived P Truman Spencer, waived TE Kory Sperry.

San Francisco 49ers- Released QB Damon Huard, waived WR Mark Bradford, waived WR Chris Francies, waived K Alex Romero, waived CB Carlos Thomas, waived CB Jahi Word-Daniels, waived OTs Jake Bender and Alex Boone, waived WR Dobson Collins, waived TE Joe Jon Finley, waived G Kyle Howard, released CB Eric Green, waived G Kyle Howard, waived CB Terrail Lambert, waived FB Brit Miller, waived DT Khalif Mitchell, waived OLB Jay Moore, waived TE Bear Pascoe, waived FB Bill Rentmeester, waived LB Justin Roland, waived RB Kory Sheets, waived OL Matt Spanos, waived OT Joe Toledo, waived LB Mark Washington, waived WR Dominique Zeigler,

Analysis: Have to think Huard finds a new home soon. Huard should find interest around the league. Green is basically a dime CB at this point. Sheets is almost a lock to get claimed on Sunday if the 49ers don't sign him to their practice squad. The Eagles had interest in him before the draft. Pascoe should head to the 49er practice squad.

Seattle Seahawks - Waived WR Michael Bumpus, placed C Cory Withrow on IR, waived DT Kevin Brown, waived FB Dan Curran, waived LB Shane Simmons, waived TE John Tereshinski, signed S Nate Ness, waived: S Jamar Adams, DE Baraka Atkins, K Brandon Coutu, G Brian De La Puente, CB Marquis Floyd, OT Na'Shan Goddard, S Courtney Greene, WR Mike Hass, CB Kevin Hobbs, FB David Kirtman, RB Devin Moore, S Nate Ness, TE Joe Newton, WR Logan Payne, LB Dave Philistin, OTs Andre Ramsey and William Robinson, QB Jeff Rowe, WR Courtney Taylor, waived WR Jordan Kent with injury settlement, released S Brian Russell, released LB D.D. Lewis, released C Cory Withrow off of IR with injury settlement, placed CB Marcus Trufant on Reserve/PUP list.

St. Louis Rams - Waived WR Jarrett Byers, waived TE Joe Klopfenstein, waived C Daniel Sanders, waived CB Marcus Brown, placed WR Brooks Foster on IR, released WR Ronald Curry, released WR Tim Carter released S Todd Johnson, placed DT Adam Carriker on IR, waived LB K.C. Asiodu, waived QB Brock Berlin, waived DT Antwon Burton, waived TE Eric Butler, waived DE Ian Campbell, waived LB Dominic Douglas, waived OT Renardo Foster, waived FB Jerome Johnson, waived C Tim Mattran, waived RB Chris Ogbonnaya, waived CB Cord Parks, waived RB Antonio Pittman, waived S Mark Rubin, waived G Roy Schuening, waived OT Phil Trautwein, waived WR Sean Walker, placed DE Eric Moore on IR.

Analysis: Klopfenstein was selected in the second-round of the 2006 draft by the Rams. Curry is a decent possession WR, so he should be able to find work. RBs Samkon Gado and Ken Darby will back up starting RB Steven Jackson. Rams are currently at 54 players, need to drop one more.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Waived WR Dexter Jackson, waived CBs DeAngelo Willingham and Marshall McDuffie, released OL Sean Mahan, waived G Ryan Schmidt, signed OT/G Marcus Johnson, re-signed DE Jarriett Buie, claimed G Jonathan Compas off waivers from Oakland, waived OT Julius Wilson, waived S Steve Cargile, waived OT Anthony Alabi, waived CB Kyle Arrington, waived DE Chris Bradwell, waived C Rob Bruggerman, waived DE Jarriett Buie, waived WR Patrick Carter, waived DT Rashaad Duncan, waived DE Louis Holmes, waived RB Kareem Huggins, waived CB Darrell Hunter, waived OT James Lee, waived/injured S Donte Nicholson, waived TE Jason Pociask, waived TE Ryan Purvis, waived LB Bo Ruud, waived WR Mario Urrutia, placed OT Xavier Fulton on IR, released FB Jameel Cook, released WR Cortez Hankton.

Analysis: Jackson went through waivers unclaimed. Have to think some team that had a high grade on him coming into last year's draft will sign him.

Tennessee Titans - Waived WR Dudley Guice, waived RB Rafael Little, waived LB Tyson Smith, released C Matt Lehr, waived WR Chris Davis, waived DE Larry Birdine, released LB Rocky Boiman, waived CB Tanard Davis, waived G Ryan Durand, released DeMarcus Faggins, waived FB Rodney Ferguson, released LB Ryan Fowler, waived/injured RB Quinton Ganther, waived S Tuff Harris, waived WR Mark Jones, waived DT Mitch King, waived OT Cory Lekkerkerker, waived WR Phillip Morris, waived TE Matthew Mulligan, waived G Jason Murphy, waived DT LaJuan Ramsey, waived S Nick Schommer, released LB Josh Stamer, waived P A.J. Trapasso, waived OL Fernando Velasco, waived WR Paul Williams.

Hackett, waived S Lendy Holmes, waived DE Rob Jackson, waived K Dave Rayner, waived G Rueben Riley, waived WR Trent Shelton, waived DL J.D. Skolnitsky, released LB Robert Thomas, waived FB Eddie Williams, waived LB Darrel Young

Personally I am not a Packers fan but I think they look good so far, they should be contenders this year.

Only move that surprised me was the release of Sutton who was picked up by another team. I believe the Packers should have kept him and released one of the other two halfbacks Wynn or Jackson. Both of those guys have shown propensity to be injured and believe Sutton will turnout to be a very good player...just my opinion.....JJ
