Only in right wing nation can the logic be....thousands and thousand killed by the same method but the weapon has nothing to do with it....i mean, how do people like this function in society?

Come on Vit, you've been around long enough to see the changes in America's culture.

Changes not for the good.

As much as everybody would like to make guns a conservative vs liberal issue, it really isn't. I've got many liberal friends who are ga ga over their guns. So they are always going to have a huge battle to get drastic gun laws changed. Like I said before in this thread, they'll most likely go another route, such as preventive measures rather than taking guns away.

The American people as a whole are pretty easy to read. It usually takes a shocking big disaster of some type to get the ball rolling. Such as 9-11. If the airports had been proactive in their security issues, the public would have raised hell over the security body searches, x-rays etc. But when 2000 people get killed and 4 planes go down in one day, that tends to change people's minds in a hurry. I suspect that we are one or two huge mass shootings away from getting the ball rolling towards these more preventive gun measures. These crazed killers seem to want to one up each other when it comes to mass killings. I fear that the next well planned out "big one" could be a 100 people or more. But another school shooting of a class full of kids would also probably tilt this country into doing something different than we are doing now.

You are correct....there are some liberals who are the same way. A shame that we keep having to wait for more mass killings to do something about it. The gun nuts and gun lobby are so powerful in this country that they've convinced themselves that guns have nothing to do with the problem

  • -The perpetrator bought a shotgun — a weapon that literally no elected politician in America is proposing banning or restricting.
  • -Shotguns are legal in countries such as England and France, both of which have extremely strict gun-control laws.
  • -Vice President Biden thinks that shotguns are just ace. Not only does he want Americans to buy them for home defense, but he told a crowd in 2008: ”I guarantee you Barack Obama ain’t taking my shotguns, so don’t buy that malarkey.”
  • -Shotguns are involved in fewer murders each year than are hands and fists.
  • -The shooter bought his shotgun in Maryland, a state with stricter gun laws than the president asked Congress for last year.
  • The shooter had no criminal record. He passed a background check that was conducted by a federally licensed dealer.

Also note, the motive is yet to be determined.

Cries of "do something" are meaningless.

I bought my shotgun on the day I turned 18 as a gift to myself. Not only has it put constant food on my table, it is also the best form of home defense. oh, not to mention, it is now worth over 3x what I paid for it originally. Quite a nice investment if you asked me. this particular gun will never be sold though, and I be damned if anyone ever can take it from me.
