Damn, its a good time to be a Sooner fan lol. Mixon the best? ESPN has 8 other RBs head of him and on 247 he is listed as an APB. Either way though, thats a huge get and must feel even better to steal him from bammer.
He's probably the best RB in the country for OU's offense. He has the combination of size an being able to catch the ball coming out of the backfield. The two things that made Demarco Murray so good when he played for OU. UCLA and Wisky's loss is OU's gain. But I'm still pretty shocked. I didn't think we had a prayer of getting him. OU's first 5 star recruit in 2 years

As good as you guys have been, that is pretty surprising. Having a back that can run the ball well, catch the ball out of the backfield and run/pass pass block just opens up the playbook. If he can learn quick how to read blitzes and effectively run/pass block he should be a good one for you guys. Any word on Stoops and the NFL? I do not visit ESPN anymore. They get no clicks from me. Been busy, haven't heard much on that front though.

It's funny, I haven't seen anything about Stoops and the NFL today. But I haven't poked my nose in Twitter yet either. Whenever he does something good, which has been rare in the last couple of years, these NFL rumors usually pop up. But I just can't see him coaching in the NFL. He doesn't really have the personality to deal every day with a bunch of prima donnas.

I don't see it either. Heard his name mentioned with the Cleveland Browns.

I'm probably gonna offend some folks but why would you take a job in Cleveland. What does Cleveland have to offer that you can't have in Norman/OKC? Surely it's not the allure of the Rock n Roll HOF. If you are making 4Mil and Cleveland offers you 5Mil, is it really worth it looking at taxes and real estate prices? As my sooner buddy TL would say, why would you leave a place where you are working for the same AD and President that hired you? That pay you handsomely, and don't interfere in your football affairs. It's basically your car and you drive it wherever you want? Why leave?

The allure of getting paid more, developing your knowledge of the game, and testing your abilities in the NFL...every man wants to see what he is made of. If he has it that made @ OU (and i believe he does) i think it would be hard to leave, but there is also the family dynamics. Is Stoops getting bored? A lot for a man to think about....and what the wife wants the wife gets.

You never know what is going through these coaches heads, but just from what I've observed, almost all of these college coaches who have gone to the NFL have had some sort of NFL background before becoming a college coach. Pete Carroll ex NFL coach, Steve Spurrier was an NFL QB, Saban I believe was part of Bill Belichek's assistant coaching crew at Cleveland before becoming a major college HC. The only coach I can think of that went to the NFL without having any experience there is Chip Kelly. At least i don't think he's had any NFL experience. But Kelly grew up in the northeast where pro football is a much bigger deal than college football. Stoops has basically had no NFL experience whatsoever. He never played in the NFL after college, and then went straight to the assistant college coaching ranks. And he's worked under coaches and mentors like Spurrier who probably didn't have many good things to say to Stoops about the NFL after his failures. Plus Stoops is close friends with Saban, who also had his NFL failures. So there's probably nothing positive out there that is calling Stoops to the NFL ranks. He neither has the bacground or is he college offensive guru like a Kelly that would tempt him to try the next level.

Stoops was offered the Browns job 5 or 6 years ago. He built a mansion a couple of years ago so can't see him leaving right now.
