here we go! It's not bad enough that college has simply become a paid extension of high school curriculum but now being "Ivy League" means nothing.
:toast:

Princeton University announced Thursday that it is joining the other seven Ivy League schools to suspend the requirement for standardized test scores for 2020–21 undergraduate admissions.

"University leadership considered the many hurdles students—especially those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds and underrepresented communities. The registration process for students and families under this kind of pressure is extremely stressful,” said College Board CEO David Coleman.

“There are more important things than tests”

The College Board has also asked colleges to be flexible on SAT scores and other matters for Class of 2025 applicants. Specifically, the board wanted colleges to extend early action and early decision deadlines so that students have more time to test and submit their scores, or “equally” consider students who are unable to take the test as those who submitted test scores.

Weird for 2020 undergraduate admissions as the incoming college freshman stopped going to school in March at the earliest. I dont see how many high school seniors who wanted to go IVY league were taking SAT and ACT tests 2-3 months prior to graduating high school?

Usually by March/April, people arent waiting to hear from schools anymore (so i think)

yes, of course. nobody that is pushing Ivy League ability in high school is waiting until spring or summer of enrollment year to take a standardized test … you do that shit in your junior year or, at the very latest, fall of senior year (fall 2019), as you always get your applications in before Christmas since typical deadline is Jan 1.

This is a way to enroll a bunch of "underrepresented" high schoolers that will be given scholarships but will flunk out in first year unless the Ivy League unanimously decides to dumb down their curriculum.

While GPA, not ACT/SAT score, remains the #1 predictor of college success the combo of GPA with strong standardized test results is the unquestioned leading predictor. What it means is that an Asian kid with great GPA and huge ACT/SAT score gets their test score thrown out so they will compare GPA with extracurricular activities. Pretty easy prediction is that Black/Latino/Native kids will enroll in Ivy League schools in record numbers while Asian & Indian enrollment will drop precipitously

This is exactly right. It's a pretty meaningless change. It might impact the kids who finished high school in three years. They can hope their application stands on its own, go to a state school, or wait a year. Not a big deal.

This is a great point. All these Liberals focus only on money, when they should be focusing on education.

Id wager that those schools will now see a higher rate of dropouts/non-graduates

Those schools spit out kids not prepared for the real world because they are so indoctrinated with bullshit. I have no respect for these schools.

You must really hate the supreme court. All nine went to Harvard or Yale for law school, and five of them went to Ivy League schools for undergrad.

Wow, great argument. You must have went somewhere better than The Ivy League.

the ivy league isn't any better than a lot of schools. its just a name and a place where rich people go and pay for the name so their kids get hired by the biggest companies and get to be on things like supreme courts.

keep pretending the schools of today... are just as good as the schools from... 50 years ago

my dad was a lawyer and graduated in 1970. His first year was hell. he took a tape recorder to class and would play it all night if he had to stay up. many students didn't make their first year and that was a normal situation. today the degree is bought and paid for and you get tutors and such to help you through. its certainly not the challenge it was back then.
