38 home runs away from 700. He turns 41 in January and next season he will be in the final year of that huge contract he signed with the Angels. Does he reach 700 before retiring?

Proves that to stay relevant you have to get in the playoffs once in awhile. Since he left STL, who really pays any attention to Pujols before he started eclipsing some of these records?

For that matter, look at how many great players have ended up with the Angles only to fall into obscurity? Regardless of the talent, they finish last or near the bottom every year. It really is somewhat amazing that they have not broken through in the Trout years as they watch Oakland continue to thrive. If there were any die-hard Angel fans, they would be outraged.

Pujols is really 3 or 3.5 years older than he says... long story plenty of references. He was a 270 lb SS in KC, great arm for HS, hitting 450 ft homers, but nobody drafted him until round 17, 350th pick or so.

MLB: he lost a lot of weight and was one of the greatest hitters of all time his first 13 years or so, then tapered off very badly: BA down, walks down, strikeouts up, but still hit dingers when he gets a ball down the middle. OPS has crashed last 6-7 years to way, way below average for a 1B.

The Cardinals finessed him out of town, carefully let The Angels take him away...
