I have drank it several times. This was not the imitation stuff you can find in some liquor stores either, it was brought back from Europe by my girlfriend. The REAL stuff has a chemical called Thujone which is basically the active ingredient that makes you hallucinate (similar to what THC is in marijuana).
In most local stuff in the US and Canada, the thujone is removed so it's just a funny tasting hard alcohol.
If you drink it straight, it's very strong and terrible tasting...however, if you do the proper absinthe procedure and melt sugar cube on the spoon....mix with a little cold water...it's not bad at all.
It's a very interesting experience and a little goes a long way. The experience is tough to describe, but I definitely enjoyed it the few times I've done it.
The only thing is I felt like a junkie with bent spoons and lighters everywhere the next morning...haha.

The shit is disgusting. By far the worst booze i have ever tried. Kinda tastes like a really gross Jager but it has that really thin paint- thiner consistency of 151. I prefer liqueur when i drink, and i had a really hard time getting it down. I was pretty disappointed with the results of this stuff also. I hammered back a few shots and at most maybe i felt a little more drunk than i would normally real... maybe i didnt try enough. You can buy it online at thegreenfairy.org . the brand i bought is no longer for sale, it was supposed to have the highest legal amount of thujone.
I have heard from friends that even some of the supposedly "legitimate" stuff ordered online doesn't have the effects of the stuff straight from little shops in Europe. I think Czech Republic is the leading producer, the bottle I had came from Spain.
Tried it straight and was disgusting but using the proper absinthe "ritual" it was much better. Definitely felt "effects" after 2-3 shots of it. Have never tried more than 5 or 6 though, heard it can be trouble.
