Aaron Rodgers has emerged from his darkness retreat, according to the owner of the facility in southern Oregon where the Green Bay Packers quarterback spent the past several days and nights.
Scott Berman, who owns Sky Cave Retreats, said Rodgers left the dark room and the facility Wednesday.
Before entering the retreat, Rodgers said on "The Pat McAfee Show" on Feb. 14 that he had scheduled four days and four nights in darkness isolation and was hoping to "have a better sense of where I'm at in my life." Rodgers said he was not going to the retreat just to figure out whether he will play in 2023 or retire.
Rodgers, 39, is under contract with the Packers for $59.465 million guaranteed if he plays in 2023. The four-time NFL MVP has played his entire 18-year NFL career for Green Bay.
Packers president Mark Murphy said earlier this month that there was no deadline for Rodgers to make a decision but that he hoped for a resolution before the start of free agency.
At least one team, the New York Jets, has inquired about trading for Rodgers, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
According to Berman, the 300-square-foot room in which Rodgers spent his time is a partially underground structure devoid of light, with a queen bed, a bathroom and a meditation-like mat. It is fully powered, and the lights can be turned on from inside the room.

I get being alone and all of that but he has the means to get something way better than this.

Honestly, what he did is what some people do to handle withdrawl from drugs and alcohol.

Basically just be isolated in a dark room for 4 days

Would love to know the nuts and bolts of a business like this. More power to the owner. That's capitalism which living in Oregon; he probably hates.

Ever since Aaron started smoking that new brand of rope, his decisions have been clearer..

He doesn't want to go into the Hall of Fame with TOM BRADY in 5 years, so he will play 1 more.

To win the SB the Packers are +4000
The Jets are +1800
Jets have the 7th best odds
Gotta be Aaron Rodgers to the Jets with those odds

Jets in talks with Packers, Aaron Rodgers, sources say.

The New York Jets have had conversations with the Green Bay Packers and with quarterback Aaron Rodgers this week regarding a potential trade of the four-time MVP to the Jets, according to sources.
The sources said some of those conversations were expected to take place Tuesday, but that it's unclear as of Tuesday morning whether they will result in a trade.
Rodgers still has not made any announcements about what he intends to do this season. It's still possible he decides to retire, or to stay in Green Bay. But if he still wants to play and he and the Packers agree it's time for him to play somewhere else, the Jets appear to be a realistic option.
If the Jets are speaking directly with Rodgers, they and he would have had to secure the Packers' permission, as he is still under contract with Green Bay. So, the discussions Rodgers is having with the Jets indicate at least some openness on the part of the Packers to the idea of trading him there.
But there are potential complications to a deal, including Rodgers' huge and complicated contract, that might have to be addressed to make sure both teams would be in compliance with the salary cap by the start of the league year next Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET.
Rodgers is under contract through 2024 for $108.8 million. Technically, the contract, signed last March, runs through 2026, but 2025 and 2026 are considered "dummy" years for cap purposes. His deal includes a fully guaranteed $59.5 million this season, with $58.3 million coming in the form of an option bonus, payable before the start of the regular season.
Because his bonus money is prorated, Rodgers wouldn't hobble the Jets' cap. He would count $15.8 million in 2023 and $32.5 million in 2024, cap-friendly for a player of his stature.
The Packers would get hit with a $40.3 million "dead" charge in 2023 -- nearly $9 million more than he'd count if he were on the roster.
The Jets expressed interest in Derek Carr, meeting with him twice, but they regarded him as a fallback option. Rodgers always has been their No. 1 priority in the quarterback market, sources said. Carr wound up agreeing to a four-year contract worth up to $150 million with the New Orleans Saints.
The Jets have been focused on Rodgers from the start of the offseason, when owner Woody Johnson told reporters he would be "absolutely" willing to make a large investment in a quarterback. Team officials have made it clear in recent weeks that Zach Wilson, drafted No. 2 overall in 2021, isn't considered a primary starting option. Their hope is to develop him in a backup role.

Jets' optimism growing in Aaron Rodgers chase, sources say.

The New York Jets are becoming more confident in their chances of landing quarterback Aaron Rodgers, sources close to the situation told ESPN's Dianna Russini on Thursday.
The Jets' increasing optimism follows their meeting this week with the Green Bay Packers quarterback. A contingent of Jets team officials, including owner Woody Johnson, general manager Joe Douglas, coach Robert Saleh and offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, flew to California on Tuesday to meet in person with Rodgers, sources previously told ESPN's Dan Graziano.
Johnson left the meeting excited and satisfied about the potential match, sources told Russini.
The Jets and Packers remain engaged in conversations about possible trade compensation, sources said -- discussions that had started before the Jets' meeting with Rodgers.
Rodgers, 39, has not made any announcements about what he intends to do this coming season. It's still possible he decides to retire or stay in Green Bay. But if he wants to play and he and the Packers agree it's time for him to go somewhere else, the Jets appear to be a realistic option.
