FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- If quarterback Aaron Rodgers lands with the New York Jets in a trade, he would like to be surrounded by some of his BFFs.
The Green Bay Packers star has supplied the Jets with a wish list of free agents he'd like them to pursue and acquire, and it includes Odell Beckham Jr., sources told ESPN's Dianna Russini.
Predictably, the list also has three former Packers teammates: wide receivers Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb and tight end Marcedes Lewis.
Lazard agreed to a four-year, $44 million contract with the Jets on Tuesday, a source told ESPN, confirming a report by theScore.com.
The Jets have expressed interest in the other two Packers free agents, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. It is not known whether they have reached out to Beckham, but they were represented at his open workout for NFL teams last week in Arizona. Beckham, who has recovered from major knee surgery, is looking for a new team.
Rodgers has never played with Beckham, but they're friends, and the quarterback has said in the past that he'd like to team up with him at some point.
The Jets have three returning starters at receiver: Garrett Wilson, Elijah Moore and Corey Davis. Wilson was the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. Davis could be expendable, as he is due to make a non-guaranteed $10.5 million in the final year of his contract. The Jets also have former second-round pick Denzel Mims.
New Jets offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett was the Packers' coordinator for three years (2019-21), so he got a chance to coach Lazard and Lewis during that stretch. He had Cobb for only one year in Green Bay (2021). Going way back, he was on the Jacksonville Jaguars' staff in 2016-17 during Lewis' long tenure on the team.
The Jets might see Lazard as a replacement for Davis, but Rodgers' influence seems to be driving the interest in Cobb, 32, and Lewis, 38. The Jets have good depth at tight end and don't need any reinforcements, but Rodgers has spoken highly of Lewis.
"A guy like Marcedes Lewis, he's an important cog in the wheel of the locker room and the momentum of the team," Rodgers said during an appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show" in January. "That's a guy I want to finish my career with. If I'm playing, I want that guy next to me.
"I want the Randall Cobbs of the world -- if he wants to keep playing -- in my locker room. Guys you can win it with. Allen Lazard, Bobby Tonyan, David Bakhtiari. There's a lot of interesting names that we'll see if there's desire to re-sign certain guys that are glue guys in the locker room, will be an interesting conversation to be had."
The Jets-Packers trade still isn't finalized. The two teams and Rodgers remain in contact, sources said, as they try to work through the final stages of a potential deal. Rodgers said over the weekend that there would be a resolution soon.
Rodgers will appear on "The Pat McAfee Show" at 1 p.m. ET on Wednesday, possibly with news on his playing future.

You gotta think he's on his way there now, to give Lazard 4/44 22m GTD and then not end up with Rodgers would be bizarre

Can't wait for Billy B to scheme for Rogers twice a season. Will be fun.

We hate the Jets (Pats fans). The hate meter will get elevated a notch.

Green Bay has been screwing Rodgers over the years ever since they drafted Jordan love instead of getting Aaron some help

True comedy in this is that Jordon Love can't play

Rodgers has 1-2 high level seasons left. While Jordan Love proves he is a bust.

If he could play; the Packers wouldn't mess with this every year.

They know they screwed up & been paying for it ever since

They could have drafted Aaron Rodgers a weapon that year or got some defensive help

Top 6 quarterbacks are all in the AFC

Worst 3 quarterbacks are all in the NFC... Fields, Love, and whatever mistake Carolina picks at1.

Jared Goff is the best quarterback in the NFC

These analysts love acting like " mobile" is a good trait in an NFL qb yet then they will go back and say " he can't stay healthy"

Best qb's of all time.... None were " mobile"

Manning, Brady, Brees played for what 65 seasons combined and total games missed among all 3 were like 45-50 games or call it 3 seasons.

High Hopes with…

Rodgers is one of, if not the greatest players in Packers history. He is the franchise's all-time leading touchdown passer (475), and second behind Hall of Famer Brett Favre on the club's all-time passing yards list (59,055). Rodgers went 147-75-1 over his tenure, which was the second most wins by a quarterback in the team's history. He also was 12-10 in the playoffs, which included that Super Bowl title during the 2010 season.

Now, he'll be taking his talents to New York where he'll look to bring the Jets into the Super Bowl conversation in 2023. That journey will begin on Wednesday when he is officially introduced during a news conference at 2 p.m. ET.

Randall Cobb to join Jets, reunite with Aaron Rodgers.

Former Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb is expected to agree to a one-year deal with the Jets, reuniting with Aaron Rodgers in New York, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Cobb, 32, played parts of 10 seasons with Rodgers and is a close friend of the four-time NFL MVP. Cobb and Rodgers famously walked off the field together after the Packers' 2022 season-ending loss to the Lions in what turned out to be their final game at Lambeau Field.
Cobb becomes the second former Packers receiver to join Rodgers on the Jets, who also signed Allen Lazard to a four-year deal earlier this offseason.
Cobb ranks fifth in Packers' history with 532 career receptions despite spending two seasons away from the team. He rejoined the Packers in 2021 after playing for the Dallas Cowboys (2019) and Houston Texans (2020).
The Packers brought back Cobb in 2021 as a condition of Rodgers' return to the team. He has played in 25 games over the last two seasons since coming back to Green Bay.
