I might take a lot of heat for this, but I have seen ARod put up big numbers when his team is 20 games behind. With Texas, anytime there was a "big" series, (not often) he tended to disappear. There is some question in some people's minds whether he is a big game player. We shall see. I would not be surprised if he is batting 200 in May!

theswami - becuase they often babble on and specualte about the who what and why of things. im not interested in the discussion or the makings of mythology.

the yankees are trying to get Alex becuase boone went down and try to solve the fact that the yanks havent had any year in and year out consistency at 3rd base they have had more players at that position in the stienbrenner era than any other infield position.

kerry - exactly. when he was with seattle and played with griffey and some of the other greats they had, I do not recall them winning the world series.

There's always next year, like in 75, 90-93, 99 &

Manny is a great offensive player, but he's below average defensively and he's not a great clubhouse guy.

Then again, A-rob single-handedly has kept the Rangers from any playoff chance since they can't afford any other decent players.

Fuk it - they're both great players, but selfish fuks.

- Of course...if Boone doesn't go down this doesn't happen

-Nah, I beg to differ. I think you are reading too much into General Steingrabber. He doesn't care about individual positions and consistency over time..he looks to win IMMEDIATELY and fill holes as they come up. BTW, he was plenty happy with Brosius at third for the 4-5 years he was a Yankee. He just wants:
1) a winning team on the field
2) to dominate the sports pages of the Post and Daily News
3) make as much money as possible
4) related to 3, to increase the value of his franchise
5) related to 1,3,and 4, piss off MLB management and ownership as frequently as he can

That's what the move is about.
