How long does the average home computer last? (I'm talking about having the latest virus updating and spyware tools running , etc)

What is one of the warning signs that a computer is about to "die" or have a major problem?

IT should atleast last for 5 yrs. What are the signs?? My computer was fvcked up recently.. It ended up being a networking problem.. I know how frustrating it can be.... But atleast i fixed it! Anyway, what exactly is your computer doing... be specific, maybe i can help. later.:coffeetim
