a black guy i know once made this statement

"black people cannot be racist. they can be prejudiced, but not racist". i think his reasoning was something along the lines of blacks in this society do not have any power and you need power to be a racist.

the reason i ask is that some of the black people i know are the most racist people i have ever met. i define racism as opposing another person or group of people based solely on their race.

it seems like barry bonds, shaquile o'neal and dusty baker get a free pass when making comments that a white player/manager would get crucified for. is this because it is impossible for blacks to be racist?

what do you guys think?

Im a white male, but growing up, the majority of my friends were black. I would walk down to the "section" and hang with my friends and play ball everyday with them(By the way, this is how I know for a fact you specialize in certain sports by what you play mostly growing up) Anyhow, through my lifetime, many of the best friends I've ever had was black. Usually when they tell you they will do something, such as meet you somewhere, or be at your house, or call you, etc., you can sure bet they are going to do it, unlike many others. But, I also know they, as well as any other race, can be "racist". As a matter of fact, I have one good black friend right now at work, who I am very close with and can joke about anything, but he still takes shots here and there about how white people "hold them back". It works both ways though, one time I went into a barbeque restaurant owned individually by blacks, and stood in line for over 30 minutes while they continued to seat others their own color, continuously pushing me aside. But, in my opinion, what keeps racism stirred up and wont let it die, is television and the movies. Too many talk shows bringing on racists' of all colors, "stirring" it up further, and too many movies based on the older days with too many "N" words in it, therefore pissing black people off. Stop making movies that are based 75 freakin years ago!

Most of the racism is east side of Misssissippi river, you have angry blacks, and white trash irish and italians. West Coast everybody gets along and there is less racism. I wish airport security screeners would use racial profiling that way I wouldnt get strip searched everytime I go to an airport.

I didn't realize that LA was east of the River. I believe that was the last place we had a race riot. Does anyone have a map of the US and compass so I can figure this out?
