Weekend, as an ex-bookie, no I am not ACE-ACE, you are always trying to make punters have bets that yield a bigger % in favour of the book. The formula is easy, more bets, bigger %.
When I was bookmaking the profit margin worked out roughly as follows.
Single bets 0-10 %
doubles 10-20 %
trebles and upwards 20-50%
Specialty bets 70-90%
Futures 25-40%
It is nice when you hit one of these bets and you always remember them, but you have to convince yourself that in the long run you will lose. In 35 years of gambling I have met plenty people who have made money gambling but have never met anyone who has made money other than playing single bets.
Take shots at these type of bets occasionly , but dont let them affect your overall profitabilty.

Nice post winbet. I was wondering if you read this, which books in either Ireland or the UK are your favorites? My top 2 are Skybook and Pinnacle. I was looking for one in the UK thinking that maybe i could find some variations in the lines. If you know of any good ones, i would appreciate the tip. thanks a lot.
