I just registered with 5 Dimes yesterday (and listed The RX as how I heard about them). Not entirely happy with the information I received via "Live Chat" concerning the funding process. Was a little like pulling teeth trying to get funding information and procedures out of them. Had to continuly press them for more information. The operator was polite, but was apparently overworked and did not give enough detailed information about the funding process, even though I had stated I was new at this. Their main concern seemed to be that THEY were protected, making sure I understood a money order sent to them needed to be COMPETELY blank with ALL receipts included. They did not instuct me how to include my account number in the mailing via Fed Ex, so I could be sure the BLANK money order would be properly credited. They did not say if a regular U.S. Postal Sevice money order was okay, or if an international money order was required.

Funding via Western Union was not very clear either. Obviously for them the process is easy and simple, but I can tell you that for someone doing this for the first time it is not. And I would fault the managers, not the employees at 5 Dimes.

In my opinion, sending western union is MUCH more conveinent and easier than sending a money order. It might sound confusing and difficult to do the first time, but once you get to a western union outlet it's easy as can be.

Go to a western union outlet - send cash (money in minutes) - get MTCN number and give it to them in live chat or phone - get money in your account an hour later. Best funding method hands down, in my opinion.

Also, if it somehow DOESN'T work out, you can always get a full refund at the outlet if they haven't picked up the funds yet.

I'd highly consider doing western union over a money order.

yeah, i been using WU and MG lately.....a lot of places put a 10 to 14 day hold on you if you use a card....but sending cash, you can withdraw any time (assuming you don't have a bonus to rollover), also don't have to go through the hassle of sending personal info....very easy to do

Thanks For Help

Just a quick note to thank you gentleman (Say Hey Kid, SoonerDawg, and Wilhelm) for your comments and advice on funding at 5 Dimes. And, it's nice to see Wilhelm keeping an eye on things. Much appreciated.

I'm close to a MoneyGram office, so I'll take your advice and use them rather than Fed Ex. Thanks again.

Update on 5Dimes Funding.

First, Wilheim, sorry I misspelled your name earlier.

I ran into a small complication trying to fund my 5 Dimes account. I live in Arizona, but still have a Nevada driver's license. Since that might cause problems with Western Union or MoneyGram, 5Dimes representative told me it would be better to just get a money order and use Fed Ex.

5 Dimes customer service rep was extremely helpful and thorough.

I guess once this is done the first time it gets easier. But it is a little complicated the first time. Hope the rest of the members here find it smooth going.

I just signed up the other day and used my Visa debit card. Was that a bad idea? It seems like everyone is talking about Western Union or Money Gram.

Not to confuse you any more if you have already made up your mind but you won't even need to show an ID unless you are sending over $1000 Western Union. I think you want to keep it around $950 or so because they will charge you fees to send the money and I think it's the total amount that can't go over $1000 including the fees.

Western Union is as easy and as convenient as it gets. And they will even pick up your fees if you send at least 200 I believe.

Fed Ex vs. Western Union

Funding via Western Union is not as easy and simple as many posters believe it is. 5Dimes representives told me that since I live in Arizona they could only let me send $450 maximum. Now for those not entirely familiar with the funding process, the money sent via Western Union or MoneyGram does not go DIERCTLY to 5Dimes, you are given a "name" to sent it to, and then, apparently, that person who located who knows where, sends it to 5Dimes or whatever book you are dealing with.

It was not explained to me why I could send only $450 due to the fact that I live in Arizona (maybe there's a lot of people of questionable character living here).

After fairly intensive research into both funding methods (Western Union and Fed Ex), I sent $1,000 via Fed Ex on Thursday. It is supposed to arrive by Monday. The Fed Ex fee was a whopping $86.35. I'm assuming that 5Dimes will credit my account for that fee. DHL was about $25 cheaper, but for some reason 5Dimes asked me to use FedEx.

Hope this helps some of you gentleman with your own funding process. And I appreciate the help others have given responding to this post. Lots of good guys out there.

Sent $650 via MG a month ago. The amount was verified and in my account 45 minutes after I gave 5dimes the reference number. The fee was around $20. 5dimes paid the fee.
