I've provided four links now in the span of 5 minutes showing police in Chicago are arresting people for breaking city gun laws. Are you ready to admit your statement that police are not enforcing the laws was off a bit?

They need more enforcement.

You said it yourself. Read post # 11.

Because let's face it, the answer certainly isn't more gun laws, but stricter enforcement.

I see now. As a matter of fact, the local police gave out 1 speeding ticket 2 months ago on my street. That must mean that they are enforcing the laws. These cars I see speeding by my house must be a figment of my imagination.

There was one patrol car for a few hours one afternoon in two months.

I guess they are enforcing the laws.

Using your logic, why do we need a midnight to 8 shift for the police department? They are enforcing the laws 16 hours a day. The laws are being enforced in your opinion.

Also, there were no official reports of rapein the Super Dome. They have no official reports of rape and no witnesses to sexual assault. The state Department of Health and Hospitals counted 10 dead at the Superdome and four at the convention center. Only two of those are believed to have been murdered. http://www.nbcnews.com/id/9503449/n...katrina-may-have-been-overblown/#.U78syLEuMk8

The media outlets are controlled......you don't actually believe there were no rapes or sexual assaults, do you? If so, I have a bridge to sell you........

Read the above link.......stay away from controlled outlets that won't tell you the truth.

No way were they gonna scare the rest of the country by telling them the truth of the lawlessness, rapes & other crime being commited ......you're gonna tell me that a city like New Orleans that had a high crime rate before the hurricane didn't have much after the hurricane? No police to watch over people.......it was like a kid in a candy store, sky was the limit & anything that could happen, happened........

Yes, sentencing needs stricter enforcement. Look dude, I've said the same thing all along. You can say whatever you want to say and that's cool. I've never said the laws need stricter enforcement because it's not how I feel but whatever you want to say.

LOL, you don't know if they are enforcing laws are not because you didn't do your research. You voiced an opinion with no substance. Now, when asked to provide substance to back your claim, you can't do it. I ask again, if the gun laws, as you claim, aren't being enforced, provide proof to back the claim. This is the 7th time I've asked now.

Do we need more gun laws or not?

LOL, NBC is a left leaning news outlet and with Bush in office during Katrina, you'd think they would want to hammer him. But in the link I've provided, they reported no rapes were reported from the Super Dome during Katrina. Interesting right?

IMO (which I know is very different than yours), we don't need more gun laws. We need stricter enforcement during the sentencing phase. Automatic 25 years with no chance of parole. That's it.

Other than the media reports of 68 shooting in 72 hours, I don't know how to prove a negative.

Do you realize what you are asking?

That's a great post, Computer Group.

The moral codes that backboned this country since its inception have slipped away.

How many of you guys have even seen the Ten Commandments?

"Thou shalt not kill" is one of those Ten Commandments.

It used to be drummed into a child's head repeatedly by home, church, and school. When that happened it became part of people's personnas. The only exceptions were self defense.

Today, homes are broken, churches are empty, and the courts ruled Christian teachings from the school curriculum.

Blame those who have drained the Christian morality from the society, so important to our Founders and the people in the country for the first two hundred years.

"Thou shalt not kill" is a part of who I am. Clearly, however it is no longer a part of the persona of many, many in our county today.

The gun is not to blame. The amoral person pulling the trigger is to blame.

You're absolutely right about the moral foundation of our country is long gone & our young generation are growing up w/o consideration for their fellow man.

Did you know a child in Florida was suspended from school for reading his bible during break time (which is his time) & the teacher called his parents to complain about this........we as a civilization are gonna answer for what we've done & what we continue to do.

Our laws are being changed before our eyes & so is the constitution.......

A very sad state of affairs........

Is that 25 year penalty on the books now or would it be a new law? Stricter enforcement (like I propose) or stricter enforcement (like you said but I think you meant sentencing)? If it is sentencing, then let me ask you the following question-

How do you have stricter enforcement of sentencing of laws that don't exist?

And what I'm saying is you can't prevent a shooting you don't know is about to happen. You can't predict who's going to shoot who. Police departments don't have the resources to pat down every guy walking on the street in Chicago.

Laws do exist yet the sentencing is too light IMO. If a guy is caught with an illegal firearm right now, he is given a sentence. I propose to toughen the sentences.

Then how do other cities not have the violent crime statistics that Chicago does?

Do you really think that it is the laws on the books or the enforcement of the laws on the books?

IMO Mike, one murder is one too many. I don't care about the numbers really.
