I am a strong supporter of the 3 point shot because it makes basketball a lot more exciting and competitive. Remember the days of no 3 point shots and a 45 second shot clock? I thought it was just too dull.

The 3 point FG has helped the game in my opinion..It is being moved back for next year in college..The game is evolving into the shot..If there were a 4 point mark, the players would evolve over time into that space also..

The game is developing into designated rebounders..designated shooters..designated defenders..Rodman..Kerr..Wallace..Bowen..These players exist in the NBA as specialists..

The bank shot and the pull up jumper on the break are lost arts..The modern player watches these talented athletes just all go to the basket and they leave their feet and fly..How many times do you see a guy lead the break and pull up for the 10 ft. banker..NEVER..Mark Price lived off that shot..

The game is becoming above the rim, and he who scores the most points wins..But at the end, in the NBA its the great teams that defend who win..

well, when the game was at it's height of popularity it included the 3 pt shot. so i would say it has helped.

the pull up from ten doesnt exist becuase taking it to the rack usually means a lay up or free throws.

the bank doesnt exist becuase so many players can create or shoot the open J or even whip the ball from one side to the other over a defender to the open guy which requires strength and athletes werent nearly as strong before.

Watching last night's OCONN - Duke game is ocurred to me that the risk/reward ratios are out of whack. Why try to grind out deuces inside at the very real risk of losing your valuable big men to fouls. Why not bomb away from the arc with the highly rewarding 3 point basket waiting at the other end, and no risk of getting into foul trouble.

wil.

I think so too Wil... Its way to easy, to close as we have already mentioned and there is no middle game....I think with the pro game its actually hurt scoring. Duke`s philosophy has been for years to shoot the 3 ball as often as they can, they always have 3 guys spotting up around the line, its a no brainer... I say do away with it. It will never happen though.
