A 24-year-old Texas woman who spent nearly three months in a hospital fighting Covid-19 says she wishes she had listened to the advice of officials and experts and worn a mask.

Paola Castillo was discharged from Medical City North Hills Hospital in North Richland Hills on Wednesday after 79 days, according to a news release from the hospital.

Castillo went to the emergency room April 27 with difficulty breathing, a cough and a fever. The hospital said she had been exhibiting symptoms for six days prior to going to the ER and that she was placed on a ventilator during her first 24 hours there.

She spent over a month in the intensive care unit and on the ventilator, according to the hospital. Her husband and mother were told her condition was "touch and go" during that time, the hospital said.

Masks do not help against viruses, they are designed to stop bacteria (much larger).
We will suddenly hear about this next year, it will trickle out slowly.

She looks like she was very sickly before she got Coronavirus.

Sad but true. Flu might have wiped her out too.

The death rate for people younger than 30 is LOWER for Covid19 than the general flu.

Fact.

Did she die?

Lots of people get sick from all kinds of things for all kinds of reasons. Some get very, very sick and will never be their old selves again. Some die.

She is one of the lucky ones. She will be healthy and happy again.

So what's the point?

Yes, what type of shape was she in before getting sick?

I am betting she had a weak immune system and low vitamin D for one.

Someone her age should not have that much trouble fighting off Covid 19 unless she had a poor immune system and such
Many people have issues because they are not healthy and have a poor immune system

On top of a mask is not why she got sick, not even remotely the reason why
Just more media bullshit lying!

She looked just fine & healthy pre virus C-19 infection.

Death rate? As usual you provide no evidence for your claims.

C-19 is way worse than the flu.

That’s your opinion. She looked anemic and looked like she has been anemic her whole life.

Don’t really care what a cuck from Canada has to say about physical health. No offense.

Also, it is common knowledge that people younger than 30 have a lower death rate with this virus than the general flu.

If you need a source for that, you are pretty ignorant. Should someone as ignorant as you be spamming this forum?

Food for thought.

Many people don't get as sick as she was & survive. Very, very, lucky & had great medical care, unlike many others in other countries. Wish she had practiced safe C-19 measures & worn a mask. So much suffering which may have been averted & more that may await her yet.

when you’re as sickly as she is, could have been a common cold or flu to drag her into a battle.

The chances of dying from this if you’re young and healthy is microscopic. Tiny. Much smaller than getting into a fatal car crash. But we still drive cars, don’t we?

Life is a risk. In fact, if you left your house today, you increased your chance of dying. Just a fact. I guess lucky for you that’s unlikely that you left your house.

Quit spamming you Canadian cuck faggot.

There is zero science that proves that wearing masks slows the spread of Coronavirus.

Anyone arguing there is settled science that proves this is flat out lying to you.

It is a hypothesis at this point. Not settled science. Every person with any intelligence knows that.

We move on.

Not only is there no settled science on mask wearing in regards to Coronavirus, it is entirely possible that the people who get it now will be better off than they would have been than if it mutates in the next few years and comes back more deadly in greater numbers.

If you want to wear a mask, wear one. If you don’t, don’t. There is no settled science on this subject either way.

The people who try to force their theories on you are mostly cuck liberals like our faggot friend here XFiles.

You've provided no evidence she was sickly pre C-19 infection.

That's a selfish way of looking at it. A tiny chance of dying from a virus that is extremely infectious & infects countless millions means a lot of people will die. Way more than the flu. So be responsible, mask up & do your part to end this world war.

Much smaller than getting into a fatal car crash. But we still drive cars, don’t we?

I don't. I choose not to. And when i get in one it has a professional driver who is sober & i buckle up. Usually i prefer mass transit (bus, skytrain, etc). But if you want to drive a death trap & pollute the air, feel free. You won't be putting your neighbours, roommates or relatives lives at risk in doing so, unlike with acting irresponsibly re C-19. So, as the saying goes, apples & oranges. Or, as i put, your remarks, as they often are, are irrelevant.

Life is a risk. In fact, if you left your house today, you increased your chance of dying. Just a fact. I guess lucky for you that’s unlikely that you left your house.

Recently i leave my home daily to get fresh air & exercise as well as food. The chance of my dying on a daily outing relative to having stayed at home instead is so insignificant it is not even worth mentioning.
