I really don't care who does or doesn't get in, no money in predicting it, guys get in 6 years after their career is over. Who deserves to get in or not doesn't mean much to me.

But I agree with Sherman that it is fast becoming a participation trophy.

Typical NFL commercialism that they just can't stop with. When you build an entire weekend around the event, you can't just let 2-3 guys in.

A narrative out of the SB is does Stafford deserve to get in or not, LOL you kidding me?

If they really let Phillip Rivers in then I think that is the true jumping of the shark

If a player from my favorite team or a player i enjoyed watching play is eligible, then i root for them to get elected to the HOF.

I like watching their speeches as well (if i'm home when its on I will watch).

I dont think its a participation trophy at all although I believer there should be certain tiers to the HOF (1st ballot, 2nd ballot, 5th ballot, 10th ballot, etc)

I agree 100%. He has the numbers but he was never a top 5 QB in the league and I never feared him as a player.
Also agree that Stafford talk is a joke as well

I dont even put Eli in the HOF although he'll probably get in for his 2 rings and playing in New York

meh on the whole "tiers" thing

Like I said, don't care either way but does everything need to be so complicated?

You were either a legend or you weren't is kinda how I'd wanna look at it.

Brady, Brees, Manning, Rodgers - Legends

Big Ben, Rivers, Eli - Not legends

Ed Reed - legend

Leroy Butler - not a legend

Leroy Butler and Bryant Young got done playing 20 years ago, if they're just getting in now then they probably ain't that deserving.

And I think the reason Sherman is making the point he is making is because he is a deserving 1st ballot HOF, a generational player at his position on 1 of the best defenses of all time. But if Leroy Butler is also getting in, then how valuable is the jacket to him really? Kinda becomes a insignnificant accomplishment for guys of that caliber.
