Pops-I know you are busy but can you let me answer these for me if you have time?
Everybody on fav and line is going up-go fave or dog?
Everybody on fav and line is going down-fave or dog?
Basically I'm asking about wts and against it.

that's a good question, one which everyone should know and try to understand, and it only apply's to the number of people in the pow thread that are betting each side (or same would apply to the Public % numbers wich sports options shows on every game that has a line

WTS or ATS has really nothing to do about the dog or fav it's about the way the people are betting

ATS=against the spread. eg lets use one of this weeks games as an example. ucla opened at minus 10 (which shows on my sheets as a positive 10) and the line moves to 9 and most of the people or public % is on UCLA. so more people are betting ucla against the spread

WTS=with the spread. same example as above but line moves to 13 and you have more people or public % more on ucla than they are betting ucla wts

when i do any type of analysis on any sport i need to put the data in like buckets to see if there is any breakout of the numbers. you can just look at a number by itself and have any meaning to it

so that is why i have HD (home dog wts or ats) HF (home fav wts or ats) VD (visiting dog wts or ats) VF (visiting fav wts or ats) and some times NLM for no line move

you dont want your buckets too small so that there meaningless in terms of the number of data points in each

betting any sports is more statistics and probabilities than it is about knowing anything about the sport. in reality every sporting event has a 50/50 probability of winning i just try as much as possible to move that 50 to one side a little more

Why would the line go down with the majority betting on the fav?

it real life it should not. in pow life you do get more picks on that from time to time so i track what they do

i'm also tracking these public % numbers to see if that happens as well. until sports options i didnt have a source i could trust to give me good data. so we'll see said the blind man

Pops as I mentioned last week I went ahead and put 2008 data in a separate sheet, created some buckets, and did some pivots. I had to create separate buckets for home favs and dogs since the IF function is too limiting and I'm not smart enough to write my own code to get around it. So that means there are separate pivots for HFs and HDs as well. Anyway I also have OU buckets and buckets for the amount of the halftime lead/deficit and 1st hf scoring/2nd hf OU. I was really looking for 2nd half angles in doing this project. I actually played around with this last weekend plugging in games for second half OUs and had decent results, but that may have been just chance.

Not sure if this is of any use to anyone but maybe it helps somebody.

Had to upload this as an archive file as my file size limits are not as generous as yours...
