Language-the fading artform of verbal communication. Shout outs to zippers, fish hooks, sails, shovels, hack saw blades, quill pens, matches, pottery, glass lenses, velcro, point spreads, and inlaw euthanasia

for people that like to learn about how something 'stupid' trigger an incredible chain reaction of events that lead to the invention of 'x' I recommend a series called "Connections" by James Burke

you can buy it in Amazon......(or download it from the internet as it is very expensive)

there have been sequels 2,3 and so on ......but nothing beats the original

I watched it as a kid in Costa Rica and it is one of those things that change you forever. Of course when I watched it in English (the guy is from the UK) I thought it sucked, the appocaliptic tone of voice of the Spanish version can't be matched (specially when I watched this during the late 70s/early 80s where nuclear armageddon was around the corner)

for example: it tells you how the need for the priests to have a way to wake up to pray in the middle of the 14th century......leads inventions related to computers.

really really interesting

wolfie, that is one of my favorite TV shows of all time! It showed in the States in the mid-80's.

Two things I distinctly remember from the show is that he talked about how Europe after the plague had a sharpedly higher standard of living. Since approximately 1/3rd of the population died and the amount of money stayed the same, people were richer on average.

The second thing is the development of the italic writing style. It was developed in Italy (no shit) because paper was scarce. People used italic writing to get more letters in per inch.

Duh... FLOWBEE

Using the suction power of your vacuum cleaner or the new FLOWBEE super mini vac, the FLOWBEE then draws the hair evenly into the recessed blades and cuts it precisely. The results are a refreshing vacuum haircut. @)
