I agreed it was a good thought provoking thread, but I am not so certain it can be repaired to everyones liking.

With over 17,000 registered posters anyone could say they are anyone else. We all are using posting handles, so what happens if someone shows up at the Nuggett and says he is poster Franki5Angels, no one will ask for proof. No passwords are going to be required, no background checks will be done for participants. The Rx. Bash is open to all, not much can be done about exlcuding anyone who has been caught with their hand in any cookie jar. Cyber space meets real life.

Wilheim,

You really think someone in real life would go to the RX bash and say they are someone who is a scammer?

General, I would suggest that posters who are caught scamming be banned from here. That's only my opinion and do not expect the owners to enforce it since I know some scammers make interesting posts that bring clicks.

Frankie5angels pointed out a good example.

The problem I see with banning is that then they will just come in with a new name. Atleast the way it is, we know who may or may not be and we can keep better tabs on them. With a new name, we are at a disadvantage as we do not know their ways and could be taken again by the same poster unknowing.

Good discussion

truthteller........good post

1. books that stiff players

2. players that stiff books (assuming credit, or some type of fraud)

3. players that scam books (using multiple accounts, for bonuses and avoiding betting limits)

imo.....the first two are non-debatable..stiffs are scum

the third however is somewhat different, imo....

my feeling on players that scam books by using multiple accounts is something i expect them to do.......let me explain

i was taught in this business that when you open up shop.....expect EVERYONE that makes a bet to try and beat you out of your money anyway possible.....now i am not saying every player is like this.......but imo..a bookmaker has to have that attitude in order to survive...it helps keep him sharp....

players taking advantage of bad numbers, trying to past-post, claiming on figures, and using beards, multiple accounts things of that nature...i view as pretty much the same......because basically they are.....all the above comes from greed....trying to get something for nothing.....

i realize that offshore books have very plain and simple rules against multiple accounts and bonus abuse....so they are entitled to do what is neccessary to protect themselves....do i view them as the same as i do stiffs..........no i dont, but thats just me...

for the record... i have been stiffed and scammed in just about everyway possible....but i dont cry about the ones that got over on me........due to MY inability at the time to recognize the scam.....jmo guys..

Good point General. However, when as a moderator you are making jokes with scammers on the forums, then I think you could see the point in my orginal post in this thread.

Good post dime but I have to disagree with you.

If a player bets a bad number or past post then that's the fault of the bookmaker. I don't agree with it and I would never do it but you are a careless bookie if u let that happen.

However, when you open multiple accounts and it's clearly stated on the web site that practice is forbidden, then I think you are outright trying to defraud the book.

truthteller........i dont want to imply that i think its ok for players to use multiple accounts.......but trying to develop ways of getting around betting limits, is as old as gambling itself, same as bearding into a book using other people.....

one thing that hasnt been mentioned that i think will become more common is "computer-type" scamming,.....a significant problem for books, since betting using the internet is becomming the preferred way to wager....
