I agree completely with the sanctions.

How can you be racist and even watch the NBA???? A sport completely dominated by black people? And much less... Own a team????? For fuck's sake.

For the same reason there were plantation owners that used and abused blacks...

I'm relieved.

I couldn't even participate in the other thread. I'm disappointed that anyone would consider it not racist or a big deal.

His opinions because of his position of power, because he made money off people he doesn't view as equals, couldn't be more disrespectful.

I'm glad they have "NBA Constitution" which allowed them to fine Sterling. 2.5 Million is a lot, but its very small compared to the money he's made in off the league.

I hope he has to sell.

I agree completely with the sanctions.

Wasn't banning him for life and talking about forcing him to sell enough? But I guess they wanted to come off as harsh as possible.

The nba had to do this. They really had no other choice. Harsh for sure but probably felt they had no other options. Suspend for a year and send an 80 yar old guy to mandatory race sensitivity training? I think not.

Harsher than expected but it needed to be done. It will be interesting to see what happens next, if Sterling files a lawsuit, who the next owner is and how that owner is selected, etc. This wont end quickly

I'm glad you said that. Thats what got me so upset. I might have been a little more animated but thats how mad i had become. Sometimes its a good thing though. When you cut the grass the snakes will show.

Shub, I fully agree with you that it's disturbingly racist.

However, because some people fail to see it, doesn't mean they are racist. They just don't quite understand. Being naive doesn't make you racist. Obviously, there is people that are racist here, and thats a them problem. Being that closed minded effects their life more negatively than it will us.

If he was Black and said the same thing about whites, nothing would happen. Not condoning what he said, just telling it like it is.

I'm am disappointed that this happened. Like physically sad.

However, I'm proud of the NBA stance. It's not about sports today. It's about where we are as people and society and there is no place for racism in todays world.

he was getting up there in years, ready to sell the team.

he has some guys already picked out to carry on after him.

magic and his partners start sniffing around

sterling gets calls asking why his girlfriend is hanging out with other potential buyers

sterling tells girlfriend to stop posting pictures of herself with those guys

girlfriend decides to tape conversation

"what guys? those 'black' guys?"

sterling banned for life

magic gets 100% approval from other owners to buy clippers

whores lie

Why would a black person say this??

if a black person said word for word what he said, I disagree, there would outrage and penalties.

EVEN IF YOUR RIGHT, Race plays a part in this. It's a slave owner mentality. He truly felt that way, and If I was black and apart of the Clippers organization (whether a player or a concession stand worker, wouldnt matter) I would have been broken to know that is how I'm viewed.

If you were a Clippers player you should have already known. This stuff has been out there for years.

They don't understand why people have their arms all up in the air because thats how they feel somewhat themselves. maybe not to that degree but you get what I'm saying. If you don't understand you're just as bad.

I guess the NBA is not part of your Common Sense Town, lol. And you are still acting like you are "telling it like it is"? You take arrogance to the next level, hahahaha.

Are you the guy that groans about the black entertainement channel by saying there is no white entertainment channel. Clearly, there is a major difference if same thing is said by a black person. If you don't understand why it doesn't equate....then you just don't understand what's been going on in this world the last 100 years.

Pretty much what I expected. There was just no way for the NBA to let him continue. I don't get the $2.5 million fine part though.

Its the maximum allow by the nba constitution

I think the reason I did not find this bothering or disturbingly racist is I am not white (if anyone has met me at the bash they can confirm and know I am mixed) I have experienced REAL racism, things said 100x worse and to my face, physical altercations on more than on one occasion. I am not one to ever play the race card but when it is the real cause of an issue then it is what it is.... What this old man said to his gf hardly bothers anyone who has experienced real hate and discrimination

This whole thing was a disgusting witch hunt that reflects a lot worse on those of you in the howling mob then it does on Sterling....... having said that...... it seems like the NBA did not have much choice to act from a business perspective given the way this thing was playing out. A business does not usually have much financial interest in standing up to the demands of the mob.

The hypocrisy of all of this is just stunning however. I am truly disgusted but what our society has become.
