I was at Fort Benning-Ga that summer, and after that lucky twist of fate vs Det, every Celtic fan took it as a sign from above that Beantown was gonna win it all.

I booked half the platoon & guys from some other ones in the company, as they were mostly eastern seaborders or from east the Mississippi, thus East coast bias, and after getting current numbers over the payphone from a call back home, I even gave them slightly generous odds vs LA in the Finals.

Pleading with them all, that whatever their hero Larry scored, that he would allow a minimum of 85% right back to Big Game James Worthy whom was just too quick & at his zenith in skills, and that if that matchup was anywhere near a wash, that Boston would be swept or lose 4-1 by Showtime..Magic, Scott, Cooper, Worthy, Kareem..& Rambis.

Well the seaborders all lost & I felt that I would be collecting, but knew only 50% at best going in would pay, just as The General can attest, Army pay isn't sh!t, and though soldiers can be trusted in a foxhole..they're not worthy of credit at all!

I had to let 70% of them off with a suggestion that gambling wasn't for them..should've known when my DI's were laughing at the sight of me taking the plays..they knew I'd be lucky to rake 30%.

Chorus:"We love it, we love it!"

Just picking on you Bastin boys!

Horseshoe,

I was in the Marine Corps at the time coming off a TAD to Ft. Benning (you guys had better ranges for our LAV battalions). Anyways, glad to hear you had a 30% collection rate - don't know if that would have been possible in the unit I was with.

I remember it like yesterday. I was up in Montreal for a jazz festival and decided to go for a walk. I got lost and ended up in a seedy part of old Montreal. I met a nice 18 year old friend (I later found out he was a prostitute)who showed me around. After a while we ended up in the sack and I had the most memorable trip of my life. Our groans were interupted by "lays it up and in". Ahhhh the good old days, when we were young and the world was gay.
