4-1 yesterday.
3 early/mid-afternoon plays today:
Toledo (+1)
Ohio U has had a 13-day layoff and has not played since November 17th.
Toledo starts a 5-game road trip with this game in Athens.
The Rockets retrun 4 starters and I thnk they win this one outright against an Ohio team that hasn't settled on the lineup and/or rotation yet.
Northern Iowa (+10)
NIU comes off a buzzer-beater loss at home to Butler. However, they return 5 starters and I think they will be up for the big state school (Iowa State).
Furman (+21')
Furman is coached by former Gopher assistant Larry Davis, who is in his seventh year at head coach.
Assistant coach Niko Medved attended Minnesota and served as a basketball manager and student assistant coach for two seasons and graduated in 1997.
Their top recruit, 6-2 guard Eric Webb of Grand Rapids (MN) High, was a finalist for Minnesota Mr. Basketball last season.
Needless to say, I think Furman will be up for this one. They have beaten 2 non-D1 schools for their 2-1 record and now take on a Big 10 club on the road. However, Minny is not consistent in covering big #'s. Plus, they have a lot of new faces and it will take a while for them to gel.
They looked like a one-man (Humphries) team against the Utes until late in the game.
