very sad to see the original L+O come to an end....its still a great show, and better than most on TV......

Would have liked to see it go at least one more year to break the record, but 20 years is simply amazing in these times..

Glad that SVU is still going strong, and be curious to see how this new LA show works....I'll sure give it a try, as i've liked all the L+O shows..

Criminal Intent went out when it should have, I am thankful for that, that was my all time (with 24)favorite crime drama, and D'onofrio is my all time favorite actor, but you can tell Vince's heart wasn't in the show anymore.

Detective Goren will go down as one of the greatest TV cop detectives of all time, with Steve McGarrett, Theo Kojak and Sipowicz.

Getting back to the original L&O, it's also time, and that was/is one of my all time faves as well.
When Orbach passed, Wolf should have pulled the plug.
You could also tell Martin was devastated by Orbach's passing, it showed in his acting also.

I enjoy SVU , but I cringe everytime Meloni smirks, (God, I hate that smirk) and he does it like 5 times an episode.

No offense meant to fans of the show but I never liked it because the bad guys almost never get away. I don't root for murderers or sex offenders but an occasional a GTA beef or insurance fraud crook could crook could get away once in a while.

Rooting for bad guys on TV cop shows has no future. JK a bit...

sad to hear that they are pulling the plug on the original Law and Order. I'm going to miss that hottie ADA Alana de la Garza.

Wil,

While you have a valid point, it was actually one of the things that made the show great. They showed affluent defendants get off more often than the average guy.

Also, in reality most criminal cases don't go to trial, so I still think even though it was about 95-5 or even higher conviction rate, I thought the show was realistic.

I couldn't have written a better post.

VD is the best or was the best imo. Also, L&O died with Lenny. Liked him and Ed together.

Also, Meloni annoys me on SVU.

The original is still my all-time favorite show.

Your probably right as not being a big fan of the show I only watch an occasional re-run in the morning when there is little else to choose from.

I do recall a few shows where money got some well to do defendents off the hook. Funny but those are the types I like to see get convicted. I root for the common crooks who almost always take a fall.

That is what ruined the movie Heat for me. Al Pacino was the big time LA cop and Robert DiNiro the big time LA thief who ony did big well thought out scores but he goes down in the end - shot by Pacino. I was rooting for him to escape with the girl he hooked up with.

Now take The Thomas Crown Affair (either one) I know sort of a drama comedy caper flick but in both movies the bad guys Steve McQueen in the original and Piece Brosnan in the remake both get away with a big heist. Those are the kind of harmless crime movies I enjoy. The Italian Job was another one although a little far fetched to be taken seriously.

The Score with Di Niro and Edward Norton was another one I liked. I think that movie was Marlon Brando's last before he passed away.

Heat is in my all-time top 5, even though I know every line, I still holdout hope that Bob Deniro gets away.
