I know if you win something like that you want to get your affairs in order but I couldn't sleep nights if I had a ticket sitting in a safe deposit box. You could get sick. Have an illness which would prevent you getting to box. It doesn't take six months to form a trust and relocate where relatives and people couldn't find you. There is a chance the ticket got lost. It was sold on March 26th and the clock is ticking. Someone who manually chose the winning numbers and only bought one ticket sounds like a person who would check the winning numbers the day of drawing.

The person holding a Mega Millions ticket worth $1.13 billion - the biggest lottery prize ever won in New Jersey - remains unknown to lottery officials six months after the huge drawing.

While New Jersey lottery officials quickly announced the location of the Mega Millions ticket sale in the March 26 drawing at the ShopRite liquor store on Route 66 in Neptune Township, no one has stepped forward to become the state’s newest billionaire.

The winner still has six more months to claim the prize, which has a cash option of $536.6 million. The mystery winner bought only one Mega Millions ticket and manually chose the winning numbers — meaning the player didn’t use the Quick Pick option that randomly generates numbers.

If no one claims the prize, the jackpot would go back to the 45 participating Mega Millions states along with Washington, D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Lottery officials said they plan to post signs in the store soon in an effort to find the ticket holder.

Officials held a press conference at the store a day after the drawing with the owners saying they planned to donate their $30,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket to charity. The employee who sold the winning ticket said she didn’t know who the winner is.
